Barkbuster Jet handguard install | 2022 Kawasaki KLR650 Build

IMO an essential item for any adventure bike, a good set of handguards. I went with the Barkbuster Jet's. Lets see how they fit on the new KLR650.

Genuine Barkbusters (from Australia) are the best handguards I’ve seen used. I have seen numerous bent handguards and deformed levers. All have been from other handguard manufacturers. I have the Jet on my WR250R and the Storm on my VStrom 1000XT in the Pacific Northwest USA. Nice video!

How do the supplied end bolts work for length on the original bars with the handlebar end weights, or do the weights have to be left off. Thanks 👍

So you got the "straight" ones? They also come in "tapered". I think I saw in a freeze frame of your video that there is a red check next to the "straight" on the back of the barkbuster packaging. Just wondering because I have the same handlebar as you and was thinking I needed the "tapered" barkbuster, Jet-002. But looks like you have the Jet-001 "straight" version.

Good choice. I’m going with the vps guards instead of the jets as they offer a bit more wind protection, plus you can choose just about any colour!

If you've got aftermarket bars, double check the clearance. I checked today and my right side is just touching the fairing, the VPS might be worse. Looks like I'll be able to adjust it so it just doesn't touch

Is the bolt for the bar end that comes with them long enough for the bar end weights?

I haven't tried though I know the Bark Buster external weights come with new bolts though

Man, nice I put the bark Buster's on my 2022 KLR I went with the VPS, they bolted right up to the stock bar's, no modification's needed, I put on the bark Buster's end weight's, looks tits !

In case you ever get asked, the 2015+ Versys 650 LT comes with hand guards (good ones) that fit perfectly on the 2022 KLR. Whoever buys my Versys will not be getting hand guards :)

Good to know! I had a 2017 LT and was shocked at how nice and functional those handguards were. I’ll be ordering a set for my new KLR. The Kaoko throttle lock fit perfectly on the Versys. Maybe it will here, too

No, or not without major modifications. Barkbuster does bar end weights for this kit. They look nice and get good reviews

Bought Bark Busters as I'm waiting for my LKR to be delivered. I assume on the stock bar, the bar ends need to be removed first?

Yep, bar ends off and in the bin. You'll be able to mount into the stock bars using the existing screw holes

Sorry if already asked, how did you go with the vibration at 110 to 130 kph?

Much the same as the stock bars. Probably wouldn't notice a difference unless you tested them back to back. I wouldn't mind using the barkbuster bar ends for longer rides
