Its come to my attention the car was only in the barn 4 years. I misspoke when I assumed 15 or 20 years. Just wanted to clarify.

I had one just like it mine was a 72 and it started just about how like that one did man let that car sit just hit the gas and it would fire right up they're getting to be rare and they're getting to be more expensive you try to buy one you going to pay for it car is definitely worth restoring

Of ALL Monte's ever built, 72 was my fav - the checkered grill & stainless trim piece on trunk set it apart from the 70 & 71

The trim on the back is actually anodized aluminum. All of the trim on the sides that's below the door handles is the same.

There is a 72 Monte Carlo here locally that has been painted once & very well maintained with the horseshoe shifter & console and 120K! Basically the car is almost mint what do you think it might be worth? He want's 18K which seems a bit much for a 350 car! Anyhow I am curious to know what the high & low range should be on that car. Thanks

I had a 72 monte carlo, bought it off a man In town ,Fenton mi. Years ago he had it in a barn for many years was gonna fix for his wife, but she passed gave it to me for cheap ,I fixed it up then the economy went to tank so I had to sell her ,I miss it ,wish some day to get another.

@@kickit59 The 72 I'm buying is $6500, but needs a new windshield and paint. So I think $18,000 is a bit much.I have a 1952 chevy business coupe I have to sell first to have the money for the Monte Carlo. Stay safe.

@@Chevy-cz9ge David I was thinking the same thing that it was a bit much that is why I haven't bought it yet! Problem is I hate bargaining with people especially an older Guy like this who has big dreams about what it is worth! Truthfully it is a really nice car but not 18K nice! Thanks for getting back to me.

I remember them brand new.... neighbors got one new in the bronze color / black vinyl top like the one in your video. I think it was a 2 barrel 350. They also got another new Monty in 73, similar paint colors too, then traded the 72 in on a new 76.... It was red with a red Landu top. They always drove Monte Carlo's.

One the last projects I worked on with my Old man back in the 91 before left for the NAVY, my older brother claimed this car when pops towed it from the street, was "orange tag" Destin for city impound. walked by ever day my senior year of school till one day was gone. Showed up at pops garage saw it there. it was clean, green with black interior. thought was my lucky day. my dam brother decided come work that day claimed. , it's short story he totaled it few years later while was in the navy, what waste fine car. 72 is all by itself, longest hood made by Chevy. Nice car, when stock, nothing drastic.

Nice find. Most dangerous thing that I have seen this year, starting a car with a flex fan and no shroud. A good way to slice off an arm. I'm sure it would have cut the upper radiator hose before it flies off and opens a vein. I just don't trust those flex fans!

the best way to load a car that rolls but doesn't run .. is to line it up behind the trailer or dolly .. put a long chain or rope from the trailer to the car puta driver in each .. take off tell the drier of the tow pick up to stop fast the other driver I. the towed car . rolls up on to the trailer .. easy peasy pie ..

Actually, the first generation Monte Carlos have a one of a kind frame. No other cars use the same frame, due to the length in front of the firewall, and all 3 years use the exact same frame. I have frames and I've compared them. The Chevelle wagon wheel base may be the same, but the frames are not.

I notice the back quarter panel on the driver side is mostly bondo the whole wheel well opening is is all bondo but that's typical on those cars in the rust belt just go buy some aftermarket quarters and patch them in there and be good as new. I wish they had aftermarket quarters and body parts in the 90's because I would have a few awesome cars but at the time there was nothing and I was not a good body guy all all.

A buddy of mine has a second generation rubber nose vette. He cant drive it and so after being treated to the complete Route 66 tour, parked it ten years ago. Now he wants to sell it but wants to dump money into it to get it running and driving. It will not start but the engine turns freely. It is not a restored or noteworthy classic. The paint is probably shot. I told him that paying to have things fixed was probably not advisable in that whoever buys it will tske it all apart no matter what he does. It has a non original engine. Am i right to discourage dumping a grand into the car? Thanks for commenting.

I had a 1970 Monte carlo my cousins boyfriend hd it and it had no engine and they had to move and he had no place to move it too so it was sell it quick or the landlord was going to tow it to a scrap yard so I bought it for 200 bucks it was a nice car but needed work the rear quarters were going they were not gone and the seats had rips and tears on the driver side but I had a 73 rocket 350 with trans on the floor of my garage that I dropped in the thing to get it running and drove it like that for a couple years then dropped a 396 out of a 66 or 7 Impala drove it for a while then some guy offered me good money for it and I sold it but all I had in the car was 4 to 500 bucks that was it and drove it for almost 5 years before selling it for lot more than I paid for it. That was back in the 1990's when cars were cheaper then they are now
