I didn't read many of the comments so someone may have already mentioned this, but the carb overflowing can be a few different things: The needle/seat are worn or stuck, the float is stuck or has a pinhole in it or the fuel pressure is too high. That carb is a Rochester BC, very good old carbs.

The 10:1 ratio is meant for the acid to have enough base (H2O, H and the O) to react to.Sometimes more concentrated mix won’t actually be more powerful as it burn through all the Hydrogen and or Oxygen. HCl + H2O = H3O+ + Cl- It needs sufficient H and O…. But I guess 5:1 is fine and, likely more powerful. 8:1 might be perfect. Good show!

The only time I had a tank restored is when I took it to a radiator shop and had boiled. It came back clean, and I didn't have to do the work! Good video!
