I"m 61 years old,got my driver"s license in 1976,had a 63 Impala waiting for me.283-3 on the tree, that car was fast, tough to power shift that set up.That"s a nice car you"ve got there. My car back in 77 had way more rust than that(I"m from NJ)-I say build it!A 409,4 speed in that car is the "Holy Grail" to me!Keep the vid"s coming!

That little man of yours will be a gearhead for sure when he grows up. Does my heart good to see you bringing him up this way. My dad and uncle's had me out in the garage too. Hooked on old cars for life. I own a 57 Belair 4dr hardtop, 66 Chevelle with a 427 and 4 speed, two 57 Chevy half ton pickups and a 71 Cuda I'm building as a Hemi tribute car. I do have the 426 nearly finished.

I had a 64 Impala when I was 18. Was a 283 automatic but switched to 327 350hp I built and a 4 speed. Lots of fun to drive. Eventually dropped a 67 427 390hp Rat into it. Very fast but not flashy.

Awesome job with the baby, my first car was a 63 Impala 283, automatic. This was back in 77. My Dad worked in the parts Dept at the Buick so we got it painted 1977 Cadillac bronze metallic. Like a dumbass I traded it for a 64 Plymouth Valiant. Good luck with your project looking forward to seeing the process unfold.

Is it the original 409 engine? It should have an engine assemble date stamped into it, but most important is if it's original to the car the last part of the VIN would be stamped into the block next to the application code. Nice color. Reminds me of my SS 327, 4 speed AC 1963 Impala.
