From the previous video, Cynthia asked me to show how to sew rows together when using Quilt As You Go Method. Everything explained here. Plus I completed the quilt binding as well.
Quilt as you go
Binding
Absolutely the best video I have made.

A lot of “scraps” sewn together to make a suitable size, and then cut out the pieces required for the pattern to work. I like lots of colour and pattern. But I think the background fabric makes the statement. It was the end of a roll, wide backing fabric. Thanks for the comment. I made this quilt last year, and it’s nice to review it once in awhile.

Glad it was helpful! It took me a few tries to get the process, start with a small sized quilt, and test out your seam allowances. That will help you determine the width of your sashings. Good luck. Let me know how you get along.

Thank you for a very informative and easy to understand video. I will definitely try your technique. The reason for not using pins is great. I do use clips sometimes and pins once in awhile. You have given me the confidence to try QAYG. Making a log cabin quilt for my son. Will do a large block next.

OMG! I am so glad I found you. Everyone does Scrappy blocks but no one ever shows you how to put them together. Thank you so much for this video. I can't even tell you how many blocks I have that need to be joined together. I can't wait to start working on them tonight. I have hundreds of blocks because I always have a lot of scraps from my other projects. I refuse to throw them away LOL but now I'm stuck with all these blocks and didn't know how to attach them. I'm so happy I found you.

Hi there I am not new to sewing ( I used to make clothes ) but I have never made a quilt , I believe that with these instructions I just might try it . I want to just start off with a wall hanging to see if I like it and can do it as well as practice the techniques to make quilt as you go. thank you so much for sharing your amazing talents . =) hugs from Canada.

That’s great. I started small with wall hangings, placemats and pillow tops. I learned the difference between polyester batting and cotton batting, regular sewing foot and walking foot, and stitch length and tension. Makes a world of difference when quilting bigger projects.

I'm working on my first QAYG scrap quilt. Thanks for demonstrating how to join the squares. Do you use 1/4 seams when attaching the sashing? Is it 1 1/2" strip on the back and 2" folded on the front?
@MsLindaMielke
@MsLindaMielke 4 ай бұрын
I use my walking foot, and keep the edge of my walking foot along the raw edges. So my seam allowances are based on my sewing machine foot. The back sashing strip is cut at 1 1/4" and the front strip is cut at 1 3/4", then I fold it in half. Always make a sample using your machine and guide, you. may make your steps slightly wider or narrower depending on your machine. Good luck on your project.

Do you sew a 1/4" seam when adding sashing? What machine are you using? Wonder Clips work well when adding rows instead of pins.
