Great work, as usual...you almost have me convinced if I had the tools, I could do it, too! As for the fender, I'd have let it be just a tad longer in the back, but on the whole I thought it looked great...

I like the front fender. Would look good with a set of mono block tyre s. I would personally go for fork gators that cover the station more as they look meaner. Looking forward to the rest of the build

I think it would be cool if you got a "classic octane" sticker/decal and put on all your custom bikes that you finish.

I put a 7" satin finish british style headlight from dime city cycles on mine. Used headlight brackets from speedmotoco - I really like them.

Maybe just me but I’d play with shortening the gap from the tire to the fender. Looks pretty big, should be easy for you too
@chrisnelson35646 жыл бұрын
I'd keep it longer, how involved would it be to move the mounting bracket instead of cutting off the front of the fender? Just trim off the rear of the fender where you want it and keep the original front lip and tack the mounting bracket on to the new location.
@taylo1056 жыл бұрын
Yes keep it. But the fender should drop towards the tire a little more. Too much of a wheel gap now. Might want to wait until you’ve got the new tires purchased if you’re going with knobby tires

Loose fender but use the headlight from eBay that has turn signals with the headlight.

Hard to tell outside the context of the overall vision, but I think painted black the front fender will look good and blend in.Careful, those old triple clams break so easily.

Instead of welding the three pieces together you could have used the ends as guides to match the edge on the center piece.

What would you recommend(as far as type of bike)for someone who is looking for something similar to your projects? Honda, Triumph, something else? There is a bike "Fade to Black"by Federal Moto that is exactly the look I'm going for, are you familiar with that bike?

Fender needs something, looks good but needs something,,, black might do it, closer to tire might help... Me thinks it needs something 🤔
@twolaneblacktop80346 жыл бұрын
If you're going to end up painting the fender, why not save yourself some time and just cut the fender and shape the tips It would be far easier than messing with lining up , welding and grinding three different size pieces
@dmasterson126 жыл бұрын
Keeping the factory front and rear keeps that factory rolled edge.
@twolaneblacktop80346 жыл бұрын
You can have that done at any body shop for a few bucks, besides it's really a full on custom so do factory lines mean that much, just say'n.
@dmasterson126 жыл бұрын
I Don't think it's about keeping the factory lines I think it would just look ugly without the rolled edge and from what I can see most his stuff is all about him doing it himself not going to shops.

Good job, I would leave for now until you have gone final on front wheel/tyre; you can adjust her once you have that sorted.Back in the old days, we didn't have angle grinders/MIG welders etc for home shed use-in fact, we often didn't have a shed LOL, so we used to cut the mudguards back with tin snips(usually with conduit slipped over the handles) anyway, a lot of guards (fenders) were cut to a point-it would probably look weird today- but it was ezier to cut that way, and front fenders had number plate then, but luckily, that was phased out. Have to say I never liked the pointed look though.

This is the headlight I used to replace my stock one on my CB500. It’s a bit smaller and I love the way it looks!!! www.dimecitycycles.com/lsl-5-3-4-satin-black-scrambler-style-headlight.html

If you're going to do any sort of off-road/dirt riding, that low fender is going to be less than ideal... you should go with a motocross style fender (High up on the forks). Here's a custom bike that represents what I mean, and I think works well with what I think you're going for: blog.baakmotocyclettes.com/en/mash-125-seventy-baak-scrambler/
