Well, drove truck straight to mechanic shop to have it looked at. It’s fine but needs some items replaced. Mainly due to wear and tear. So that’s happening next week.

I was looking at manufactured vs modular and found you guys. This is Awesome! Especially since Texas is in the running for 1 of my relocation options. Ive been to you guys website and see that the homes prices does not include anything outside the home, sceptic, electric, landscaping, etc. But do you guys do that kind of work also?

In my experience, every flaw I discover in the building after finish because the contractor made changes and did not follow the drawing, even when I was the contractor. Simply because the engineer spent nights thinking about it, then I said yes in five seconds to the trader who wants change things for his convenient

I'm in the early stages of planning something similiar in Ga.. However building on @ a 15% slope with a 60'x60' 2 story shell. And trying to figure out the foundation. And thinking of a piered encapulated walking crawlspace for most the mechanicals and duct work. You build these on slopes before?

Do yall do just concrete work? I have a metal shop that is already built but under the awning/ carport part of it that wraps around 2 sides it is gravel and dirt that gets muddy and pisses me off and is essentially unusable a lot of the time.

I agree that a pitched ceiling would look better then a flat ceiling in the living room. Would it work out if you used a lower pitch to give you a chase down the center for the duct work? Or are you putting drywall directly to the purlins?

Directly to purlins... well, we will screw 2x4’s to purlins, then drywall.

Make it taller or attach purlins to side of I beam instead of top.

QQuestions, Steel building, why not steel framing on the interior? Why not run the upper room ceiling frame work with the roof pitch? That's a hole in one! With a truck. That's going to be a big home when done. Keep up the great work. God bless.

Metal Stud framing is a lot more expensive than wood. Not the materials themselves, but all the trades since they have to be commercial rather than residential.

16 in floor joists. Holly cow. That’d span 14-16 ft at least. Wouldn’t be surprised if they would span 20 ft or more. Overkill is better than under for sure. Pretty easy to have something like that slip by though for sure. Nice save. Got lucky

Attic space for AC? Why put the AC in the attic? Seems more difficult to install, access and it's going to be noisy up there. Why not just put all that on the first floor?

Please respond with your real opinion. So I’m building basically the same barndominium with some modifications and it’s only 40x60. 2x6 framing. I want to do spray foam so bad to get an air tight barndo but I get in insulation for almost for free! I I get any batt insulation with any r value ,paper/no paper for $1a bag. Should I do spray foam (10-15k) or high dense r23 insulation?

I'm doing a metal building and thinking of steel beams for 2nd floor. Do you think wood is better ? Also do you attach your framing to the metal structure. I've heard drywall joints could crack with hard winds what do you think Thanks and great channel 👍

We attach wood to metal. No issues. I like steel beams better.

Yes. Head studs, upgraded fuel system, fully deleted, and most importantly, air to liquid external oil coolers. Coolers sit in front of radiator, so no more worrying about them rupturing and putting oil in my water. :)

See your getting a lot of "framing questions" metal vs. wood + know you've met Matt R... did you see his video on the TStud system (5-31) = strength pre or on site insulated that will increase R value and external envelope wind etc. strength. www.tstud.com/

Saw it. They don’t help in our barndos because our wood stud walls are not exposed to the outside like a conventional home. Our entire outside wall is fully covered in foam, which make it much more efficient than conventional homes.
