Thanks for sharing. Can't believe how much was done to that area. I fish there often.

stay off the dunes, unless you are the government , then go ahead and rip it all out. Waste of tax payer money!

Seems like everyone is letting their emotions and imagination run wild. It is part of an unfinished restoration project of the channel and beach.
@trevordoyle68315 күн бұрын
What restoration? They ripped out half the vegetation.. that is erosion protection. I understand from 2nd street(lighthouse) to 8th street is most amount of beach distance and is heavily grown out but silly, that free sand will be pulled out after next few storm surges.. they already cleared out a bunch few years ago for plovers.. this wasn’t discussed with citizens and all the bushes, trees, vegetation had lots of other wildlife and plenty of roped off area for piping plovers from previous bull dozing.. no wonder people are furious. Lucky BL is highest point of island but still idiotic..

@ Proving my point. In less time than it took to type this, I did some research and found out about the restoration project.

All this heavy equipment had to make a lot of noise. Nobody who lived in that area heard that noise, and reported it to the police? Very strange.😢

This is awful ecological disaster. A stupid and illogical idea to destroy years of beautiful growth. I can't believe how this ever got approved.

All of LBI is outraged! We had an emergency meeting Friday at 1. Standing room only. We aren’t taking this lying down! 😡 There are jetty minks, snowy owls, osprey, bald eagles, nuthatches, American robins… the list is endless. They didn’t want to put it at Island Beach State Park because there were too many people and vehicular traffic. Too many Coywolves-so they did this. Unbelievable.

Wtf?? That is AWFUL. It's really a sin what's happening to the island. We got priced out, been there my whole life and now we're just out. Make more room, build another ultramodern house! So sad man, I hate what it became. This wasn't made for the plovers, theres already all of holgate basically for the plovers. Somethings wrong here
@trevordoyle68315 күн бұрын
They already bulldozed huge section there prior years for plovers.. and now they ripped out insane amount with this madness.. sad and makes no sense..

The incompleteness of this supposedly "report" is just mind boggling. Take down the video as it's alarmist and just embarrassing. I do have a property in the area and the "report" of this moron is just embarrassing.

Appreciate you dropping a comment. At the time of the video and my social sharings (before this video) were first looks at two developing stories, one of which local and regional news picked up, raised awareness and in turn aided in public safety. I'm doing nothing more than sharing LBI news with my audience like I do all year long with fishing info as well as more broad LBI information. To share additional info on the topic, I published a post on my blog www.FishingLBI.com sharing supplemental information on the two topics which are really one project depending on how you look at it. The video is not "alarmist" nor "embarrassing". Your "moron" claim is completely out of line. But you are entitled to your opinion. How much you know about these topics? The dredge spoil placement was in fact a major issue, total negligence! So much so they went back and fixed it. It's a blessing no one was seriously hurt in the many sink holes. You might not think anyone is there this time of year, especially in low visibility... However this time of year it is one of the region's most popular areas for night photographers capturing star trails and the Milky Way. You having a property is great. You attended the meetings and are well versed on the topic? From all the many engaged residents and business owners I've talked to, the topic was not very well known before these events played out. Now many know. I too have a property here. I was also born and raised and call LBI home. I have deep respect for Long Beach Island, it's history, community, resources and its conservation. More over to see the hypocrisy within the coalition regarding a federally threatened coastal plant (seabeach amaranth) and a federally threatened bird (piping plover) it's laughable. I'm sure we will be seeing more Pover/Plover beaches.

The sea level rise hysteria is total BS. You can't take a dune & move it 50 yards closer to the ocean, then question, how did this happen? when the ocean takes that dune away in a few years.
