Thanks, Amy. This is a great carving but I had no idea how large it is until you showed it in place. Collectively, you and your colleagues have successfully trained me to begin to speculate why an art piece is in its Barnes ensemble. I see many other connections in addition to those presented.

Thank you for showing this beautiful piece in the gallery so we could see the size, and explaining the possible connections of the other pieces in this gallery. Also, for the history of the sculpture - that men were not supposed to view it, and that it may have been done by the women or commissioned by a different group. Very interesting. Thank you again, for an interesting snippet of art!

Thank you, Amy, for this introduction to yet another unfamiliar piece of art. I greatly admired the smooth grain of the figure and wonder what kind of wood this could be. And a question: did Dr. Barnes leave any explanations behind, telling us something of the reasons for the placement of this work with others. I see the resonance with the curve of the flying buttress and the shape of the face. I just wonder how he made his choices.
