Thanks, Kaelin! Nice presentation. Two very different styles of Renoir.

I think my favorite is Renoir, and it was so interesting to see the difference in his style. Thank you so much for choosing this painting and pointing out that change, and also supplying the backstory of where Renoir painted this and his probable inspiration. A very enjoyable takeout!! Thank you!!

So interesting to see how the very skilled Renoir tried variances of technique, brushwork and composition: A very adaptable and creative painter!

Thank you for this most interesting talk on this painting by Renoir. Loved how you shared the background on the piece, Raphael, a visit to Italy, etc. I so look forward to seeing it in person when I visit The Barnes on Saturday morning.

I appreciate really *getting* it that artists may have several styles that they use on and off through their careers, and not to expect their artistic progression to be clearly linear. Also, as a result of this Takeout, I feel much more able to consider the lighting in a painting. Very instructive in a succinct lesson. Thank you!

Glad to hear that, Janet! Dr. Barnes really set us up for success with those ensembles :)

Also, note the placement of the jean renoir vase in front of the painting. It traps the human subjects between decorative objects and confuses the mind's eye between two dimensional and three dimensional representations.

Absolutely! The placement is so deliberate--it's really a great ensemble :)

How much would one say that painting is worth?
