Thanks for a great review. You're the first reviewer to address why the string broke and not just cry about it and blame it on poor build quality.

I just acquired one from my cousin Tony, because he had two Raptor RX's, and I'm moving up from the Barnett Jackal. I love it's lightness, and he's saved me some money because I surely would have spent between $700 and $1100 on another bow I'd been eyeing. I'll be able to use all my same arrows, and broadheads that I'd used with the JACKAL. Looking forward to deer season in the Fall, and might try and take a turkey next month as well. Nice video review.

I've had my FX Raptor for about 6 years now and have shot several deer with it. I had trouble with the included scope not holding zero and Barnett sent me a new one at no charge (great customer service!) I put a red dot scope on and now prefer that over a multi-reticle scope, simply because it's easier and I confine my shots to 40 yards or less. I have had no issues with this crossbow other than the auto safety does not always engage, but since I immediately check it after cocking, it's not an issue. I'm now looking at an American-made crossbow, however, but I do think crossbow prices have gotten silly and for $1600-$3000, you can buy a high-end rifle and scope! Barnett is the oldest crossbow company in America and a good product. Buy from a local dealer who will tell you which models to avoid (they are not all the same) and provide you with great service! This is the best tip I can give you.

You can take the safety off then take the bolt out and have someone else pull the trigger while you have the ropes pulled tight

Excellent review very thorough wish you guys could review the Barnett BC Raptor reverse bow. All the existing reviews out here on that crossbow are very weak, and ultimately not very informative.

The problem with the strings blowing up is to light of un arrow i have a barnett raptor fx2 and i shot arrows that are 424 grs the arrows that come with the bow are only 289 grs to light unless you put a 125 gr tip on them i use victor xbolts with 100gr tip and they are 424 gr to light of a arrow is like dry firing your bow

Richard Fisher i have done so much research and thats all i hear is the strings break all the time i had barnett penetrator shot it over 300 times and never had an issue i was in a tight spot and sold it for 400$ but now im looking for another one and was going barnett but now all i here from 2 bow shops 300 miles apart from two bow smiths that have never met and they say barnetts are the mist common brand of bow in for repairs to the point that these shops dont even carry barnett they say they are garbage i was surprised to here that. So im between killer instinct ripper 415 or 2018 pse fang xt350

And if u accidently put the half moon nock in incorrectly when loading it it will forsure blow the string. I promise lol

I believe all novices should learn on a weak recurve crossbow. Some ppl just aren't that smart and you have to be smarter than what you are working with. I broke my own rule though and purchased some Barnett youth models but I plan on being there every shot to break them in right.

hey guys why didn't you try some limb dampeners on that crossbow I've got the same crossbow and with limb dampeners it's one of the quietest crossbow I have give it a try you'll be surprised I use the bowjax for crossbows
@HamBrosOutdoors8 жыл бұрын
That is something that is now on the bow but for the review we wanted to stay true to what ya get out of the box, but for sure with some string dampeners the bow is a lot quieter for sure. Thank you for the comment and taking the time to watch the video, best of luck out there to you.

I did actually manage to cock mine by hand, but had to place my hands an inch from the riser to avoid pinching them and it wasn't the most comfortable thing. it can be done though.
@drewtheo5 жыл бұрын
Ive hand cocked mine tons of times. Everytime ive made a follow up shot or shot multiple doe's ive hand cocked it. I agree, you will lose some accuracy but it will be fine for hunting medium/large game within reasonable distance. As long as i pull evenly and smooth, its fine. Avoid it if possible, but if a situation presents itself do not hesitate to hand cock it.

This is a fantastic review - by far the best of any that I have seen on YT - I am shopping for a bow but it is very difficult to make a decision, and I am watching every video I can to make the right investment. Thank you - is it possible to do a review on the Barnett BC Raptor reverse bow ? Million thanks -

How does it compare to te sniper 370 from centerpoint?
@nickdick22798 жыл бұрын
Laurens van Benthem everyone loves the sniper 370. I shoot a Barnett gamecrusher 2.0 and love it. Mine shoots 330. Sniper 370 shoots faster but 330 us still very fast.

The arrow hold down is defective. That's the ski-shaped plastic thing . I have replaced it several times and every one breaks. Its weak plastic but Barnett will not improve it. It would be simple to beef-up the plastic part or use spring steel but they don't care about a defective part, so I'll never buy another Barnett.
