As intense as the frozen river and the benighting fog - a fine dramatization of a fine tale.

At 7:56 I gave up. I can't make heads or tails of this dialogue. Does it make any sense on your side of the pond?

Very great production. enjoyed the writing and the acting. Nov. 6, 2024. Maybe it’s the election results👹, but my brain has ceased to work. I don’t get the end. Can someone tell me? Thanks.

Kershaw murders Smethurst and swaps identities. He is tried (as Smethurst,) for his own murder but has reappeared (disguised as his true self,) to cause any case to collapse. He then goes off with his wife to enjoy Smethurst's money. Presumably, the police were following the pair when they drove off (panicked by Polly's request for an interview,) having been tipped off by the tea house detective.

@@letslia213 Everyone thought that Smethurst, murdered Kershaw, but it was the other way around. The body was unrecognisable and Kershaw had shaved his head and face to resemble Smethurst. He put on a false beard and wig so he could prove he had not been murdered at the time the prosecution claimed. The handwriting evidence showed that he had not written the letter because of course, he was not the real Smethurst. Any clearer?
