"... It reallyFuckinRocks!" Thanks, Gina! Now I know how to count that!

It is no exaggeration to say I absolutely love this band. They grabbed me with Red, and then Blue, but Yellow & Green took things to a whole other level. There are precious few bands who continually grow and explore new musical ground, but none do it as consistently, or incredibly, as Baroness does. 🤘🏼🤘🏼

Jason M Yeah, Yellow and Green was the album that really secured me as a fan of Baroness! They are my modern Pink Floyd. I’m just as obsessed Baroness now as I was with Floyd in my 20s.

I really love this band...and I really love John's art too. The songs on Gold & Grey are amazing, and adding Gina has been great....BUT, the mix/master just doesn't match the beauty of the songs and the art of the album (in my opinion). I'm well aware that many have said this already, and I'm sure it hurts every one of us to even think it because we all love you dude. I have every one of your albums on limited vinyl and cherish my collection, but this subject has been on my mind since the release, and every time I give the new album a listen it really hurts my ears. With that being said though, I still went and saw Baroness on the last US tour and they were the best I've ever seen them live....especially the new songs.

Yes, the mix is clipping a bit hard, volume levels too high or too much compression. The last Lantlos album was similar, great songs but hard to listen to the entire album due to the 'max volume' mix.

So much to love about this band. They remind me of Fugazi in terms of creativity, energy and independence. Keep it up guys, tour Australia soon please.

I'm sorry, but it has to be said: I feel there's a fantastic collection of songs and performances on Gold & Grey, but the mastering is an absolute nightmare. I can't listen to more than five minutes without a headache. Beyond brickwall, no detail. It sounds like 12 bit music :/ These awesome songs and performances deserve a decent sound.

I love the album as it is. Nothing is meant to be too perfect right? I mean, does not everything and everyone have perfect imperfections? ...And Justice For All from Metallica is another huge album that has "odd" mastering. Look, these albums are imperfect for a reason. No one will never understand why it wasn't perfected through mastering, but we have to appreciate what has been given to us. This is yet another classic case of expectations ruining happiness. These expectations rob you of joy. You expected an album to be mastered a certain way because Yellow & Green had a certain mastering. Then Purple comes around, and all these expectation about what YOU want to hear, and you are now unhappy. To summarize, the fault lies in yourself, not in the album mastering. Expectations right?

I didn't like it at first either. But it really grew on me. I love the album now. Sure, it's a bad mix/master, but that happens sometimes.
