Trolls are not hostile unless you invade their personal space btw. Another tip I found out on my own is if you see a Boulder trap, throw an item where the Boulder would land. It will trigger the Boulder and let you go on about your day 😅

Trolls be like "Get off of my bridge!"; but: who built the bridge? Was it the trollkind's magnum opus? Was it built by men? Is the troll squatting there? Are trolls legally prosecuted for their property thieving and squatting? We need a roguelike game where you are a roaming battle-hardened lawyer filing cases against trolls and dragons, and evicting them by the power of legal magics.

Thank you for covering Barony again Splat! This Quality of Death update makes the game look so much better, especially the UI, and should really help draw some eyes to this incredible dungeon crawling RPG. Combined with their upcoming Switch launch, this update should finally give Barony more of the attention and love it so intensely deserves. From memory, I think poison resistance also means you can eat moldy foods, or at least, prevents you from getting food poisoning from the nasty stuff, so poison resistance is a very, very good item find, and very worthy of a bag slot if you don’t have it by default. I should mention, in case people get a bit concerned due to its challenge, Barony is a VERY customizable game! For example, as Splat showed in the video, you can turn the Minotaurs off, in case you find the idea of being chased through a dim unexplored death trap a bit much. Or you can turn off hunger, or the surprise traps! Or even grant yourself an extra life! And don’t feel shame doing it; Barony is tough! Anyway, Barony should be Huge! Thank you for helping to make it so Splat.

Most people in here probably own it already as well! It was free on Epic like a year or so ago, so you and your friends might already own it! It's a really fun multiplayer experience trying to get through the first couple levels together :')

Having played the original Rogue way back when, I have to say that other than having actual graphics and the real time gameplay (and a few other things), this game seems to ACTUALLY capture the original Rogue and modernize it while maintaining the same feel. Impressive.

This game reminds me of renting a video game with no instructions for the weekend. You have to memorize what does what and how to proceed while also having the time pressure of beating it in 2 days. Even the artwork looks like an older game, in a good way. I'd say a similar feel to Dark Souls, but I never felt that when I played the game, I just played and did well on the first attempt.

Engineer-robot is a fun odd way to play, and far as the achievments say, not many do so! Turrets, mines, beartraps, helper drones, crafting backpacks, flasks, glasses early are awesome Its worth a try

I love this game. Playing it with 3 friends is so fun and chaotic. It’s very hard and there’s no shame in turning off some of the harder difficulty modifiers till you get the hang of the game. Also would recommend the many in depth steam guides if you have trouble.

Nice game, tried it few month ago. I really like the fact that game allows for different playstyles not just depending on class but have complitely different style of game. When i tried the game i felt it isn't good because i don't like fast paced games and this one had you always on the rush because of hunger. I imagined dangerous dangeon that you slowly but strategically go through however it was not the case (even though some classes like tinkerer suggested this playstyle). And devs did think that some people won't like it so if you turn off hunger, your health stops regenerating. This way it allowed slow pace of the game but it kept difficulty of the game.

5:20 Actually Barony models it's graphics off of something closer to an early elder scrolls game and similar first person adventure games from the 90's. While the dungeon itself is a 3Difed version of classic dungeon crawler random generation.

tip - always pick up stuff in the earliest stages of the game if it's appraisable with whatever level of appraisal you have, and appraise it. Afterwards, if it's useless you can drop it.

Monk Machine is an awesome class/race pairing. It gives you a ring that slows hunger and Machine has no hunger, but instead a boiler that you need to refuel if you wanna use magic.

Tips ------- 1. Dont always pick up everything you see, its going to raise your appraisal and in turn your perception. Which may make your character weaker later on since your not leveling properly. Try to resist picking up stuff that you dont need or may want. Like spellbooks for a barbarian. Or overall decrepit or mouldy or even worn. 2. Alchemy is extremely important even if your a barbaria. Being able to heal when your low on MP or MP potions is vital to beating later levels and bosses. With that being said if your a warrior try not to use your healing spells or books cause its going to level attributes that you may rather not level. Alchemy is so much better for healing so focus on that. 3. Blocking and Swimming are crucial for leveling constitution so try to raise block skill a couple levels, every level.

Extra Tip ------------- If you have a blessed item of +1 or +2 and it's in decrepit or worn condition but find something that's in better condition and quality, it may be better in the long run to equip it unless you find a repair scroll.

This reminds me of some Japanese game I had in famicom when I was a kid. Everything was in Japanese, so I couldn't understand anything. LOL. But I had a few minutes of fun randomly clicking stuff for different results. Only as an adult did I realize that it was a first-person dungeon-crawler. I think it was Deep Dungeon IV or something similar.

Thank you for the gameplay, I like what I see, Splat! It leaves a wish for metacurrency, so each playthrough amounts to something, as well as a way to skip floors, and having a semblance of consistency. Maybe a portabke door that takes you to a mobile base of sorts? I’d make it so that you can only put it in certain places where there’s a hole in the ceiling, making your own attic, where you may find your library for spells and such. Haven’t played the game, so hopefully such features are present, if not in the future

While I like all of these ideas, I'm not sure that it fits Barony. In keeping with the true Rogue-like mechanics, I think meta progression would hurt the intended game-play loop for Barony. Sometimes, especially in life its nice to do something for the doing of it, instead of for the reward that you receive at the end.
