This was so needed for Catholics in America who don’t have any idea of real Catholic culture. Great guest!

What a fascinating topic and food for thought. My favorite take-away: true beauty pierces the soul and wounds it. It would be interesting to hear this reflection applied to literature as well.

Dear Mr. Flanders, Thank you and your guest for a superb elucidation of the meaning of bourgeois and baroque, drawing upon the great Christopher Dawson. A very timely topic for Catholics today. Thank you many times over. Sincerely In Christ Our Saviour, Larry Clarence Lewis, Canada.

people in baroque Europe lived from plaque to plaque and yet their exuberance in art was so high, whereas COVID induced lockdown deprives everybody of possibility of action, adventure, pursuing goals, achieving something...

I think it was Venerable Fulton Sheen who drew the contract between modern architecture and the architecture within Christian cultures. When men believe in God it raises their souls, their minds and their creativity to something greater, more splendid and beautiful. Compare a Gothic cathedral to a typical skyscraper. They're all plain, glass, characterless boxes. I love architecture and art inspired by the faith of the artist, especially when overtly expressing their faith such as in paintings, statues and crucifixes.

Thank you Tim and Peter. I was in the US Army Reserve for 6 years and was able to go with a group to the Weiskirche. It is stunning. The group was mainly Catholic. Funny though, one of the group said he had been there before, and told us “weis” meant white. The words are similar, I guess. I loved this episode Tim. Thanks again fellas. God bless!

Thank you sir. What a blessed trip. I believe 'Weiss' is white and 'wies' is meadow.

When I was in elementary school my Protestant parents took us to Ettal Abbey, which reminds me of Weisskirche; from that point on, I knew I had to become catholic.

Mexico was as rich as the USA up until the Industrial Revolution in the USA. This is what I learned per statistical data in a Developmental Economic course (300 level) at UW-Milwaukee years ago. Mexico City was one of the richest cities in North America back then.

One of the great mysteries of the universe is why Vendee radio has so few subs. I suspect the answer lies in the mental wasteland of the Proletariat.
