Barou's face says everything we need to know, everything ,fear,rage, disbelief, disbelief on the fact that HE of all people passed the ball to someone,he who wouldn't even think about passing the ball in the first place just did that.. You can say it was instinctively but honestly it seemed like Isagi's "give me the ball" defeated the king and actually made him evolve by the end of match.

The animation in ep 18 was a little subpar from the previous episodes but it was done well enough that you couldn’t really tell while watching the first time. Every one was moving at slow motion and a lot of still frames. I think they’re saving their budget for the Isagi vs. Rin match

I respect barou, he took his Ls like a man and it drove him to get better as a result and thats what bluelock is for. Breaking your old character habits and reforming them into your new version.
