Just want to thank you for demoing this fly. I am in Montana ( Spring of 2023 ) fishing my favorite river. Nymphing was very slow until I put this fly on. It was literally fish after fish, including some hefty browns and rainbows. I’m currently tying some extras….

Nice! They can be huge. I have found them twice in a local stream where they look like little olive night crawlers. Literally, they are over two inches long! Fly Speckled Thin Skin. Another addition to the wish list.

Charlie is mono a better choice than say gold wire? Is it a matter of to each their own or does the mono play a factor in the overall look of the fly? - thank you so much for helping us learn from the best!
