I beg to differ…the key to unlocking extracurricular doors is money, plain and simple. When u have money it doesn’t matter what language u speak. A gringo could speak fluent Spanish and it wouldn’t do him any good if he’s not bringing the cash

The brotha was talking from a married guy perspective. Barranquilla got the best looking women in Colombia, a put together american is more exotic there then in CTG and Meddy where they are used to seeing gringos daily and view them as secs tourist. They dont even like gringos in Meddy. I met alot of beautiful women just eating at the malls in BRQ. Its chill and alot of nice spots in the north. I split my team between there and CTG but they are less than 2 hours away

I was speaking in general having both perspectives living here. Seeing how dudes move when visiting Colombia this city really isn't for the majority of them. They're better off in the two cities that "cater" more to a foreigner than other cities. Not being able to speak Spanish is a complication outside of those two cities and not being open to learning their culture. A weekend warrior is better off in MDE and CTG in my opinion.

There is no possible way Barranquilla doesn't have parties. I just think most gringos that go there don't know where to go. It is definitely more of a weekend city though. Costeňos drink a lot. Isn't really the whole of Colombia the way you are describing in terms of networking and people not leaving their group much? Shit, Bogota is even like that to a degree. Medellin most definitely is too, the only differnece with Meddy is that there are a lot of hoes. If that is your thing, then yeah, Barranquilla won't be for you.

You didn't quite grasp the true essence of being Costeño. Learning some Spanish and being open-minded will help you connect with friends more easily. As a Barranquillera, I can say that our city is unique in that we don't have biases or cliques that reject foreigners. If you can't understand the Costeño vibe, then Barranquilla might not be for you. But for me, my city represents the heart of happy Costeño culture. Only a true Costeño can feel and express the joy of our culture, and say it's the happiest place on earth. Our Carnaval is all about traditional dance, customs, and music that touch the very roots of being Costeño. It's hard for people from other regions, let alone foreigners who don't speak the language, to fully understand. However, some foreigners who open their hearts to our culture quickly discover the city's true value. To truly experience it, one needs to be humble and find happiness in the simplicity and long-lasting friendships that our city offers."

If you don't speak Spanish it's even less stuff for you to enjoy more than a couple days here. The spots that are eventful don't have a single gringo and the rare times they do we speak Spanish. Don't mislead bros out here trying to find legit info listening to this kinda nonsense then pull up disappointed here. Go to MDE or CTG for how you talking. It really depends on what each individual wants. As they stated, if you’re looking to go to Barranquilla for a weekend, and meet a bunch of hot 304’s or participating in hook up culture, it’s not going to work. However, if you’re going to Colombia, seeking a long-term stable team or a girlfriend/wife, it’s still a good place to go, as long as you know, it’s going to take some time to achieve. I have spent some time in Colombia and in the Philippines, and never have I needed to deal with prostitutes or even go to a strip club to find women. I am not knocking anyone who does, and I’m not even saying I wouldn’t resort to it in a drought, I’m just saying I’ve never had to do it. If you’re a decent enough looking guy, just on the same level as the guys in the video and you’re an American bringing in at least $5000 a month, there is just no way you shouldn’t be able to find a girl who looks at least as good as a young Gloria Estefan, as a bare minimum! Think about it, you’re a decent looking American man, making anywhere from 5 to 10 times more than just about everyone you coming in contact with! Yes, it’s going to take you a while to meet people and for people to feel you out. However , if an American man with a little bit of game can’t eventually convince one of those hot, broke ass girls at the Starbucks, ice cream parlor, restaurant, convenient store you regularly visit, then you need to just stay home, get back into the church, and have the deacon find you a wife!

@@josephjones3525 Depends who you talk to. I have spoken to some Colombians who say it is not unusual for men and women to end the night with strangers after salsa dancing. Maybe not so common but it happens. The other thing is that the views on sex in Colombia may be different from other countries particularly around fidelity. It is a given that most of their women expect their men to cheat. In return some women have occasional fun on the side too. Both parties know, it is the unspoken rule. As foreigners we have to be very careful and then just hope the person you are with is genuine, otherwise if you get with the wrong one sleeping with your friend may not be such a big deal to her.

@@josephjones3525 I can’t pretend I know the ins and outs of Colombian culture. My guess, because they are Latin culture, and most likely very Catholic, hooking up randomly is something done on the down low, and probably far less frequently than in the United States. I do know there is a difference between hook up culture and straight up pay for play culture. Just a country has legal prostitution, doesn’t mean the women in that country in general are all easy/loose. I’m not really 100% sure where your disagreement with me is coming from.
