@@mkmason2002 I will say I am glad that I can leave the judgment to God who will decide if I am Christian or not. Really, in the end, it does not matter if you think I am Christian or not, just if He thinks so.

@@mkmason2002 Hi, Mary, With all my heart and by personal witness, I know of a certainty that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth to atone for our sins - for MY sins. I have known this for most of my 65 years, and have sought constantly throughout my life to do His holy will, however imperfectly. It is because He called me to follow Him at age 17 that I sought to know what He desired of me. My seeking brought me to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After a long process that humbled me and brought me to my knees, I finally cast my fears aside and asked God if this Church was His and if He wanted me to join it. In a very personal and unmistakable way, through the power of the Holy Ghost, He answered me ! Thus I learned for myself that anyone who lacked wisdom could ask of God, as James counsels in James 1:5, and that He would "give liberally and not upbraid". I am so grateful for the fruits of the Spirit that are mentioned in Galatians 5:22, and they are a joy to me. I am so grateful to a loving God who shows me over and over how very dependant we are on Jesus for life and light, and how very much He loves us. It would be a pleasure to continue correspondance with someone like yourself who loves Jesus Christ. I hope we will be able to keep in touch and share more about our Lord and Savior. @@mkmason2002 I believe that God our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, are two different persons. I believe the testimony of Luke who said, "Now, when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased." (Luke 3 : 21-22)

@@mkmason2002 Mate, I'm tired and that is a lot of reading. I won't try to knock your beliefs or claim that you need to conform to mine, But I would like to explain my beliefs a bit. You don't have to agree with them, though it would be nice if it you help you to understand more of what we believe and why we believe it. I believe that Jesus Christ is the literal Son of God the Eternal Father in Heaven. I believe that because of this, Jesus Christ had the ability to live a perfect life with those qualities inherited from his literal Father. I also believe that Jesus Christ is the Jehovah of the Old Testament, also referred to as the God of the Old Testament. He's the big dude pulling all the stops, fulfilling Heavenly Father's will. And he hasn't stopped. God the Father, Jesus the Christ and the Holy Ghost are 3 separate beings with distinct roles to function in, yet they are united in purpose. This is to say that they are "one" as the scriptures say, but they are still separate beings. We give worship to God the Father because He is the God of all. We are saved from our mortal and fallen state only through Jesus Christ's perfect Atonement in which he paid the price in full for each of us. It is up to us now to either accept that and follow him, or to reject that and turn away from him. Because Christ paid the price already, it's done, but he has set requirements to reap the benefits of that sacrifice: We are told to believe in him and on his name. (Okay, he wants us to choose him. That makes sense) We are given commandments to obey and we are told to repent when we break those commandments. (Right, okay so he wants us to choose to become like him. He's a good guy to emulate) We need to be baptized by one who holds the authority to do so just as Christ was baptized by John. (He wants us to demonstrate our willingness to follow him by promising we will through making a covenant with God. Right, I understand that) We need to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost that cleanses us purifies us when we are repentant. Also referred to as the baptism of fire. (Alright, so we need to be clean. I'm on board with that) And once we've gone through that we're done right? No of course not. We need to keep striving to become more like Christ. It is a life long pursuit because we are not perfect beings. To help us with this, we have been given tools and instruments that help us to grow closer to Christ and become more like him; like church, the scriptures, prophets, prayer, etc. We do not earn our way to Heaven through works, but if we want to live with God for eternity do you think that being an imperfect being -- making choices that are not always in line with His will -- we would truly feel that they belong there in the presence of His perfection?? There is a phrase I've heard that I think really well sums up why we make such an effort to do and be better, "We do not Earn heaven, we Learn heaven."
