I love my sister and we have been very close all our lives. She got married in a mormon temple and I was not allowed to go inside. This did not and never has bothered me. How could I be so selfish to think of my wants on her wedding day? My sister was radiating this happiness I have never seen her display before as she came out the front doors where I was waiting. I would gladly wait outside again. Love ya sis

Stop calling them Christians. True Christians aren't polytheistic, believing in many gods like mormons. True Christians don't believe they will become a god like mormons do. True Christians believe Jesus has always existed as the Bible states. Mormons believe Jesus only came into existence after god had sexual relations with his spiritual wife in heaven. True Christians believe, as Paul made absolutely clear, that salvation only come by faith alone in Christ alone, apart from any works. True Christians would not compare the mormon temple to Moses' tabernacle and Solomon's temple. True Christians don't erect temples again after God abolished the need for them at the time Jesus death. True Christians don't go into a building and do Masonic chants and rituals and then call it the work of God. Stop calling mormons Christians. They're not! Just because they claim it, doesn't mean they are it. Don't fall for the lies. This is NOT just another Christian denomination.

We are Christians in the truest and purest sense of the word. adjective 1. of, relating to, or derived from Jesus Christ or His teachings: 2. of, pertaining to, believing in, or belonging to the religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ: 3. of or relating to Christians: 4. exhibiting a spirit proper to a follower of Jesus Christ; Christlike: noun 7. a person who believes in Jesus Christ; 8. a person who exemplifies in his or her life the teachings of Christ: The original work to describe the first Christians was Χριστιανός (Christianos), meaning "follower of Christ". You have likely been told that we are not Christians because of some tenets of our beliefs, but this narrow redefining of the word does nothing except take away from the actual definition. We are followers of Christ because are members of the Church of JESUS CHRIST. You may also want to consult this wiki page as well: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_true_Scotsman
@happyday27653 жыл бұрын
@@LHJlives I live in Utah and have many relatives who are mormon. My dad was a member himself before discovering the truth. I know a lot about the beliefs. Just because somebody creates a church and puts Jesus Christ in the name doesn't make it Christian. Jesus came did the all of the work that needed to happen in order for a person to receive the forgiveness of sins and ever lasting life just for trusting in His finished work. He said "it is finished". What did Joseph Smith do? He said what Jesus did wasn't enough, which is a rejection of Jesus and everything he came to accomplish for us. He said temples need to be erected again even after it being explained through scripture that the spirit of God no longer lives temples built by human hands but only in body of the believers, which is why after Christ's death it's our bodies that became the temple of Holy Spirit. Ritualistic works added, etc. I could go on. Despite having the Jesus Christ in the name of that church, everything it believes and teaches is a complete rejection of what Christ did. People can call it Christian all they want. It doesn't make it true. So aside from the fact that the mormon church adds a bunch of nonsensical books to the Bible and calls it scripture, and that it believes in many gods (polytheistic) , and believes people can be elevated to godhood, adding the works and rituals, etc as a means for salvation rejects Christ. Jesus said over and over and over again in John that the only thing a person needs to do is believe, trusting that what Jesus did was enough to recieved forgiveness and the free gift of ever lasting life. Jesus said it. His disciples said it. Paul said it. A rejection of this is a rejection of Christ.

Can I ask a question about the temple? I know you can't say much about it, but I've heard there are lockers in the dressing room that you can lock up your stuff in. Is that true? Why would temple worthy Mormons need to lock up their stuff?

Because we are still normal people who can be tempted. I'm a temple worthy mormon but that doesn't mean I don't have struggles just like anyone else.

Caden Didericksen I know the Bible says the Most High does not dwell in temples made with human hands (Acts 7:48), but don't Mormons believe that he does, and that "the Lord cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance"? (D&C 1:31) What does 'worthy' mean? I assumed it meant you thought you weren't sinners. I guess I'm confused about the whole 'worthy sinner' thing. And God allowing sinful people in his temple. Thanks for taking the time to explain this to me.
@cadendidericksen288910 жыл бұрын
bowrudder Thank you for taking interest and not turning this into some religious debate. LDS members do not believe that we are perfect and without sin. Everyone makes mistakes and nobody is perfect. But we can strive to become perfect through the atonement of Jesus Christ. Everyone can be forgiven of their mistakes. In order to be temple worthy you must repent of your sins. Now I'm just an 18 year old kid so I don't have the answers to all of your questions. In fact you have given me some questions of my own that I am going to try to answer for myself. I highly recommend visiting www.mormon.org for any other questions that you have. They have full time LDS missionaries available on chat whenever you need them. If you really want to I'm sure that you could find some missionaries nearby where you live. They can come to your house and talk to you. Before I end this comment I want you to know that I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and that it goes hand in hand with the Bible. I have read it several times and truly believe that it is true. I have seen so many blessings in my life because of it and it makes me happy. Thanks for asking questions and respecting my beliefs. You seem like an awesome person so stay that way. Have an wonderful day.
@bowrudder89910 жыл бұрын
Caden Didericksen No doubt I've been owned as ***** says. But can I raise a few points from scripture? You say that 'nobody is perfect', and that 'everybody make mistakes', and that's true, but this is sin we're talking about. Stop using words like mistake. A mistake is getting somebody's name wrong. This is sin before a holy and righteous God. Isaiah cried, "Woe is me! I am ruined, for I am a man of unclean lips." (6:5) Peter said, "Depart from me, O Lord, for I am a sinful man!" (Luke 5:8) What did they know that you don't? This is not a game. In the words of D&C 1:31, "the Lord cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance." If everyone sins, if everyone is a sinner, as you acknowledge, then how can the Bishop let anyone into the Temple? All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom 6:23). If you break one law, you've broken them all (James 2:10-11). The question from the Temple Recommend Interview that gets me the most is number 14: "Do you consider yourself worthy to enter the Lord's house?" Talk about putting the individual in a bind! Of course you're not worthy. First of all, none of us is in a position to judge. Jeremiah 17:9 says, "The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. Who can know it?" We're in no position to judge. But talk about prideful -- who would say 'yes'? The question invites the sin of pride. And dishonesty. What did Jesus say to the Pharisees who asked, "We are not blind too, are we?" He said, "If you were blind, you would have no sin. But because you say, 'We see', therefore your sin remains." (John 9:40-41) By claiming to be worthy, you're underscoring the true condition of your heart. Do you tithe? Do you fast? Are you more worthy thank Jack Mormons? Do you go to the temple? Can I tell you a story? Jesus told the following story himself. Jesus said, "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and was praying to himself thus: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people -- swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like that tax collector over there. I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing some distance away, wasn't even willing to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner.' " Who do you think God views as justified? Check out Luke 18:9-14 for the answer.

being in good standing means having a mind and heart and actions that are truly TRYING to follow the commandments of God and the example of Jesus Christ. The "test" consists only of being honest with the leadership as you attest to your keeping the commandments. We are still fallible, we all make mistakes and choices that are not in keeping with the standards Christ says we should work toward. Christ speaking Matt.5:48 "Be ye therefore perfect even as your father which is in heaven is perfect." We will not reach this in this life time but we must be doing his will so we are going in that direction.Jesus loves all his children weather they believe him, believe IN him or don't believe. There are standards to live and rules to follow and blessings to receive that all depend on you accepting the challenge to Believe the whole story and do it HIS way.

I only joined the church six months ago yet more and more every day I can feel Christ's love to me, and the peace and happiness I feel when living the gospel and sharing it with others brings peace to my eyes. In today's world faith can be so underestimated, but I promise to you, that if you read the Book of Mormon and pray, you will get a testimony that the church is true and you will feel closer to our Father in Heaven than ever before. +Kyle Cook I have a recurring dream I wish to share with you and our mutual friends.In my dream the LDS Temples are expanded to contain out courts which permit entry to non-Mormons and to members who lack Temple recommends. Under the Temple is a vast and fantastic child care facility that is so good that children ask their parents to be taken back to the Temples!In the courts, there is art of the ancient Jewish Temples. Lessons are given on Divine Living. People who are permitted in must obey a code of conduct and modesty of dress. Discussions and civil debates on religion are permitted in the courts. This turns out to be extremely popular with JEWISH MEN! A lot of LDS members who have problems keeping the word of wisdom or paying a full tithing are edified by the experience and may be turned toward active Mormonism.The sharing of ideas benefits everyone, although controversy with regard to religion remains. (Opposition in all things). But the greatest benefit, in my opinion is to rescue our culture from the negativity of "Liberalism" by giving people higher aims. The admonition of Saint Paul in his epistle to the Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." One's feelings are the basis of this faith, not facts. However, I do believe in thinking lovely thoughts. Me personally, I cannot get beyond the multiple fallacies. But God bless you.

@shawnprpr8 жыл бұрын
I know that temples to Mormons are very sacred and I don't mean any disrespect, but Mormon temples are very different from the biblical one. Although Mormonism and Christianity are very different, they both have something in common: the Idea of holiness, and perfection, and how necessary those are to our happiness, and salvation. The bible is filled with allegories like the parables of Jesus, God loves to paint a picture of a greater truth. The bible tells the story of how God is holy and perfect, but that man is fallen and sinful; so God tells Moses to build a tabernacle/temple to house the ark of the covenant in the holy of holies behind the veil. This is where the blood of the sacrifice was sprinkled as "atonement" for our sins. (Lev 16:15-16). The Temple was a picture of our separation from God and our need for redemption, for atonement. This temple was of the First Covenant of "ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary" (Heb. ch9) a place to meet God, but only because humanity was limited to God (Acts 7:24; 7:48). But the temple was just a picture of the reality of Christ (Col. 2:17).The temple was a continual sacrifice year after year, but Christ once and for all atoned for sin (Heb 9:26) That is why the veil was torn in half at Christ's death (Matt 27:51) and the Holy Spirit could now live in believers (John 7:39). The New Covenant makes Christs believers the new temple (1Cor. 3:16) The Old Covenant is obsolete in light of His New Covenant (Heb. 8:13). When you ignore the work of Christ, the veil of the temple remains over your heart (2 Cor 3:15)(Gal. 3:10) (Rom. 4:14) To a Christian, a Temple has no place or purpose, but only represents the denial of Christs completed work on the Cross. To a Christian, God is accessible freely as much in one place as another (John 4:23-24) (Ps 139:8). To a Christian, God doesn't demand perfection, He gives it. (Rom 4:5) (Eph. 2:8-9) What God asks of us is simple and easy and without need of buildings or promise's (Micah 6:8) There's nothing in the Bible that supports what is done in the Mormon temples. There's nothing in the bible commanding baptism for the dead, and as far as eternal marriage, in light of what Jesus said it's not looking good either. (Matt. 22:30) Back to what I previously mentioned, about what Mormonism and Christianity both believe in, in regards to the importance of perfection and holiness; there're two ways to see it. Christ's atonement: Did Christs death purchase righteousness that can be imputed unto a believer in Christ by faith? (2 Cor. 5:17-21) or do we need to deny ourselves of all ungodliness first? (Moroni 10:32) No offence to any of my many Mormon friends, but I have yet to meet anyone including them who have truly denied themselves of all ungodliness. Many people from many faiths have been filled with love with an out of this world experiences, I have too, but I don't believe because of them. I believe the bible because of its truth, its light that nothing else compares to.
@davidmecham2825 жыл бұрын
Shawn, thank you for sharing many of the scriptures from the bible which explain the need and importance for having a temple. We do strongly believe in both the old and new Testaments, as it is God's word given to us through the mouth of his prophets and apostles. The Book of Mormon was written by Prophets called of God who lived here in the American continent between the years 600 BC to 400 AD. Jesus, after his resurrection in Israel, visited the inhabitants of the Americas as well to share His gospel, which event is recorded in the Book of Mormon. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) I testify that we do very much believe in Jesus Christ, and his invaluable role in our salvation. He commanded us to be perfect even as our Father which is in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48). Although none of us will achieve that during our mortal life times because we are human and imperfect beings, I believe we are at least expected to strive for the same level of spirituality He taught us through word and example. God's sacred work performed in temples in ancient times continues today in our modern temples. I invite you to come worship with us on Sunday in any one of our meeting houses to learn more.

Steve Taylor As Dieter Uchtdorf put it: Because we have all “sinned, and come short of the glory of God” and because “there cannot any unclean thing enter into the kingdom of God,” every one of us is unworthy to return to God’s presence. Even if we were to serve God with our whole souls, it is not enough, for we would still be “unprofitable servants.” We cannot earn our way into heaven; the demands of justice stand as a barrier, which we are powerless to overcome on our own. But all is not lost. The grace of God is our great and everlasting hope. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the plan of mercy appeases the demands of justice “and [brings] about means unto men that they may have faith unto repentance.” Our sins, though they may be as scarlet, can become white as snow. Because our beloved Savior “gave himself a ransom for all,” an entrance into His everlasting kingdom is provided unto us. . . . If grace is a gift of God, why then is obedience to God’s commandments so important? Why bother with God’s commandments-or repentance, for that matter? Why not just admit we’re sinful and let God save us? Or, to put the question in Paul’s words, “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” Paul’s answer is simple and clear: “God forbid.” Brothers and sisters, we obey the commandments of God-out of love for Him! Trying to understand God’s gift of grace with all our heart and mind gives us all the more reasons to love and obey our Heavenly Father with meekness and gratitude. As we walk the path of discipleship, it refines us, it improves us, it helps us to become more like Him, and it leads us back to His presence. “The Spirit of the Lord [our God]” brings about such “a mighty change in us, … that we have no more disposition to do evil, but to do good continually.” Therefore, our obedience to God’s commandments comes as a natural outgrowth of our endless love and gratitude for the goodness of God. This form of genuine love and gratitude will miraculously merge our works with God’s grace. (See www.lds.org/general-conference/2015/04/the-gift-of-grace )

Fun fact: when people get endowed in the temple, they receive a new name, usually of biblical origin. Many Mormons believe they receive an individual name, but actually all men and all women who go to the temple at a certain date receive the same male or female name, and hence you can look up any Mormons new name in a table if you know their endowment date. Pat While it is true that we may seem to view the Gospel differently than modern Christianity. It is because we view Christ and His Church as it was in the 1st Century Church founded by Him and administered by His Ordained Apostles. Because of this we do not subscribe to the modern Church that has changed so many of the basic doctrines and teachings of the 1st Century Church.

Go back to the original Greek and Hebrew. Joseph Smith has added another gospel and the Apostle Paul said in Galatians 1:8, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed". God's word remains the same, as He does...Yesterday, today and forever. The church may have gone through the dark ages but G-d keeps his remnant of believers and His word remains the same.>

That's a shame. I'm sure you had hoped and expected it to last "for time and all eternity". When an LDS couple becomes divorced, are you also unsealed by the church?
@truth.speaker4 жыл бұрын
@@thelmadiaz3630 the LDS church teaches that a temple divorce (often called "cancellation of the sealing") is necessary, otherwise, her husband supposedly would have the ability to call her from the grave and she would be one of his wives forever, even if she hated him and loved a new husband. Contrary to what Jesus said at Mark 12:25, the LDS church teaches that marriage is necessary for a woman to be saved to the best heaven. They teach that she can never become a god unless she marries a man. Then she can be a god if her calls her from the grave. Essentially, no single woman can become a god, and every woman who does get saved and become a god has been called by her husband. If a man doesn't like his wife, his decision can choose to not call her from the grave. Effectively, the man can doom the woman from the best heaven, what the church calls the celestial kingdom. It is a church that teaches that men can decide if his wife is saved. They teach a terrible lie. Many members of the religion have never thought it through so deeply. But essentially, when you dig into it, it denies every woman from top heaven unless she has a man's permission. It is a very very bad set of ideas

The devil is the founder of all these things. Second Nephi 26:22 says, “And there are also secret combinations, even as in times of old, according to the combinations of the devil, for he is the founder of all these things.” Secrecy is criticized in Helaman 6:22: “And it came to pass that they did have their signs, yea, their secret signs, and their secret words.” While some members will claim that Mormon temples are “sacred not secret,” [church historian Richard] Bushman said that “temples are secret, plain and simple,” noting that even members “don’t speak to each other about it.” (“Seek understanding, not converts, Bushman urges Mormons,” Deseret News, March 6, 2008).

What is the main difference between the LDS temples and Catholic cathedrals..?
@R6GAMERpt9 жыл бұрын
+Helen E From my understanding of what a cathedral is, it's kinda like the equivalent of the Mormon Tabernacles (which have now been mostly replaced in functions by Stake Centers). They're basically churches, but bigger, and have a "higher function" than other, smaller church buildings. LDS Temples are the most sacred buildings built by the Church, only worthy members with recommends can go in. We believe that God Himself visits the temple. There we perfom sacred ordinances like marriages and the sealings of families for eternity. We also perform ordinances like proxy baptisms for our dead ancestors who did not have the oportunity to do so in life. It's a place where we can be closer to God, and feel His Spirit stronger and more present than anywhere else. So, they are certainly different in purpose and in glory.
@HelenEk79 жыл бұрын
***** Is a LDS temple considered more holy than the Jewish temple?
@R6GAMERpt9 жыл бұрын
+Helen E By Jewish temple do you mean synagogues or ancient temples like the Solomon's Temple? If it's the first then I must admit I don't know a whole lot about jewish synagogues, but from what I understand after a quick search, a synagogue would be somewhere between an LDS Temple and an LDS Chapel in general terms. It's hard to say which one is more "holy", since they are seen in different ways by two different religions, I don't really know how holy a synagogue is for a Jew. But from what I can tell, the purpose of a synagogue is very much like the one of a chapel, and while it is a consecrated place, I can't find anything that suggests it is as "holy" to a jew, as LDS Temples are to Mormons. Remember LDS Temples require you to be a worthy member of the Church, and that we believe God Himself walks its corridors. On the other hand, if it's the second option, then there is no difference. The concept of temples in LDS doctrine come from Solomon's Temple and the mobile tabernacle from Moses' time. The specifications for the construction of a modern LDS Temple are based upon the construction of the original Solomon's Temple, for the same purposes and ordinances as described in biblical texts. Although we consider the Kirtland temple the first temple of the Lord in modern times, we consider Solomon's Temple and the early tabernacles to be in fact the first temples of the Lord on Earth.

+Helen E It is my pleasure to answer, and share a bit of the small knowledge and understanding I have =) I would say a little bit of both. I was still very little when the missionaries knocked on our door, and our family was converted bits by bits. My father took 14 years to be baptized. I was baptized when I was 9, and I admit it was mostly because of my mother, and I began doubting and feeling desire to leave the Church when I was about 12. But then I decided to put the Book of Mormon to the test for the first time, and ask God if it was true, to know for myself. And indeed I came to know for myself. I'm not really a convert in the traditional sense of the word, but I do consider myself one, and for the purpose of church records my baptism was convert baptism because I was already 9 ahah

Having said that, anybody who wishes to go through the proper steps can get into the temples. The rules aren't there to exclude, but to make sure that those who enter these buildings (which are considered sacred to LDS members) are spiritually clean and well prepared. Also, you don't have to be worthy to pray and receive spiritual healing, nor do those things require entrance to an LDS temple.

Mormonism is not Christian in any way. This cult teaches a different gospel and a different Jesus Christ. Furthermore this reminds me of the Jewish Sanhedrin. This need for ceremony and ritual is not biblical, or what the gospels of our Lord Jesus Christ says. And Jesus will say depart from me you who work lawlessness. You see what you people don't understand, when Jesus said the road to destruction is wide, and to strive to enter through the narrow gate. He was talking about putting your faith in him alone. Not your region. Your works or ceremonies or rituals are but filthy rags to God. Whats truly sad is how many so called christian people are using religion as a get out of Hell free card. Works based righteousness is not biblical. God does not grade on a curve. I don't care who you are. Christianity is not a religion, we are simply believers in Christs finished work. We are in him and he in us. We are the temple of the holy spirit. Christs death and Resurrection was more then enough to take our sins away, past, present and future. Religion quite literally KILLS. THE SECOND DEATH. Mormonism, Catholicism, Jehovah witnesses, Islam or any other religions that take away the truth of the glorious gospel are forged in Hell. This is outraging. One more thing for any Mormon reading this, The book of Galatians says- But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. May I ask you a question? Your so called prophet Joseph Smith spoke with angels who gave him a gospel? So do you understand what the scripture I just quoted is saying? Come on people use common sense. If your region is truly christian, then why do you not know true christian scripture? Read the James bible. Learn the truth of our Lord Jesus Christ, and his glorious gospel. BEFORE IT IS TO LATE. Glory be to our Lord Jesus Christ!!!

Sarah Draper there has never been a member who has fully tithed according to the laws of God. Do you give 30% instead of 10%? If you truly research the old testament specifically in Deut. You will see that the tithing is not just 10% of your gross income. But I guess the church leaders missed that part because they don't want to pay more either. Not that they would ever tell the basic member what they pay or how much the church received in total tithing. That is secret not sacred.
@ryddra10 жыл бұрын
The scriptures say a tenth, unless you can show me otherwise. Deuteronomy 14:22 says a TENTH. So I don't know where your 30% i coming from. The church leaders give exactly what is expected of them. We all are. .The Lord doesn't expect us to give ALL our money to him. You are right, we don't tell people how much we earn and how much tithing we pay, but we do talk to our bishops about it, and if we dont pay a full tithe, we can't have a temple recommend. Which is 10% of our earnings.
@ldgarland40510 жыл бұрын
Loran Garland Deuteronomy 14:22 is the first 10%, 14:28 is the second 10%, and 10:8 is the 3rd 10%. So if tithing is the law of God. It is pretty clear from scripture that unless you give 30% to "store house" which is not the church. You are not a full tithe paying member and have entered the temple falsely. Yet the bigger question remains that no one from the LDS church can answer. That is was Joseph Smith's revelations correct or is the BoM correct. Because the BoM scriptures say that God was everlasting from beginning to end. Yet Smith, in the Kings Follit discourse said God was once a man like us and then became God. So who is correct? If it is Joseph Smith, then the BoM is not TRUE, and the religion's cornerstone crumbles. But if the BoM is correct then Joseph Smith is a false prophet. And if he is a false prophet then when you make your statement to the bishop that he was a true prophet you have lied. So which is it????

Mormons depend too much on Temples thinking it will bring you closer to God. You all need to understand the things of the "HEART" (I Samuel 16:7). Let's hear what God Himself says about Temples in ACTS 17:24 "God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands..." Now let's go down to verse 29 "Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Devine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man's devising..." If you want to be close to God, you must accept the real Jesus of the Bible who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity as your Lord and Savior. Not in building pretty temples. Furthermore, you don't need endowments, ordinances, Basin water on 12 oxens, progression of rooms to approach God, symbolic ceremonial clothing, sacred things done in secret, eating all your vegetables. You can go before God anytime, anywhere as you you are. Let's hear what God Himself says about this in: HEBREWS 4:16 "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need..." We live in a time of grace...no jumping through somekind of "spiritual hoops" to go before God. Go now to Him as you are anytime, anywhere.

In tithes and offerings. 9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. 12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

Journal of Discourses 2:6-7; “You believe Adam was made of the dust of this earth. This I do not believe, though it is supposed that it is so written in the Bible; but it is not, to my understanding. You can write that information to the States, if you please-that I have publicly declared that I do not believe that portion of the Bible as the Christian world do. I never did, and I never want to.” - Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, October 23, 1853 How nice to have a "restored" line of Prophets who....DON'T EVEN KNOW GENESIS!!!

A beautiful church, but sadly the their beliefs are not well supported by true facts, and many mormonpeople are not quiet honest. Sorry,but I have been so hurt by many of them.

If you bothered to do some research you would know mormons were massacred. They were killed and chased out off their own property. They had just as horrific history as slaves. The only differance they weren't sold by their own people 😞

My wife has slaves in her family tree and she’s a member of the Church. Our Church has been very active with numerous Black organizations in researching old records to help African-Americans rediscover their roots and families from the past.

One thing that has always been a problem for me with the temples. The LDS say it is to be where they can be with Jesus. However everything that Jesus did was meek and simple. When you look at the inside of every temple it is extravagant and luxurious. They are the exact opposite of what Jesus preached. Then when you look at the purchase price of a temple it comes from tithing of the members. However if you don't get a recommend you will never be able to take part in what you helped fund. Guess the church/cult gets all the bang for members buck.
@tweetlebugzz10 жыл бұрын
Even in Jesus's time, they built temples. Jesus himself visited these temples and worshiped in them. Temples are a symbol of sacrifice. Members sacrifice their time and money and much effort to build a temple. It is a symbol of our love and dedication to our father in heaven. It is not only a place of beauty but It is also a place of peace and joy.
@ldgarland40510 жыл бұрын
Was it not Jesus that is the temple we are to worship. After all he said he will take down the temple and raise it up in 3 days. Oh I forgot. The LDS church worships a different Jesus. So it might work that way in your religion.
@tweetlebugzz10 жыл бұрын
Loran Garland Mormons do not worship the temples themselves, they are a space to worship within and that is all. Mormons worship God only. what do you mean, " worships a different Jesus" ? Mormons believe in the only Jesus I have ever heard of, the one that was born in Bethlehem and died for our sins on the cross. The one who was resurrected and who returned to heaven. The Jesus who is to come again at the end of times. The Jesus who preached to the people and healed the sick and and afflicted. Is there any other Jesus than the son of God? Have you ever considered that God would want the people of today to have the blessings that were present while Jesus was alive on the earth? For people to be healed that have faith in him? Have you ever considered that God may also want us to have leadership and prophets for this period in time just as he did in ancient times? Think about it.
@ldgarland40510 жыл бұрын
cheeseisme See a different Jesus. Jesus of Christianity was born in Bethlehem. Not Jerusalem. And no I don't believe that the God of the Bible needs prophets now as he did to proclaim the coming of Jesus. It was already told to Christians by Jesus. This was stated throughout the new testament. If God wanted more prophets to proclaim the second coming it would not have been stated so much in the new testament. Also that it is a different Jesus than Christianity is that the bible shows over and over that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are 3 in 1, separate but same. And that God is and always has been eternal. Unlike what the LDS teaches from Joseph Smith that God is an exalted man. God did tell us through the bible that he is the only God. That he knows of none before him or after him. Since he is omniscient(ALL KNOWING) then Joseph Smith gave a false prophecy that we can become gods ourselves. ask I have asked before If you are a true follower of Jesus Christ you must ask yourself this...Which is correct. the BOM or Joseph Smith? For the BOM states that your god is unchangeable, Yet Joseph Smith in the Kings Follit Discourse stated that god was once man who was exalted and became god. So if the BOM is correct then Joseph Smith was a false prophet. And if Joseph Smith was correct then the BOM is false and the cornerstone of your whole religion has fallen. Which is it????

Loran Garland Ok here is a question you should ask yourself. If you have such a problem with the LDS church, why do you keep looking at LDS videos on youtube? Why do you waste your time commenting on them? I believe that there is a fight going on inside your mind and spirit. Eating on your spirit if you will. But you are so angry that you refuse to listen to it. If you would After watching an LDS video just stop for a moment and listen to the still small voice inside your heart. If you will listen to it without judgement. It will tell you want you are really wanting to know.

I can only hope there will become a day when opulence will become a thing of the past and the world will join together with the understanding that everyone deserves to be happy and productive, and all that posh pomp and circumstance is ridiculous. It is such a waste - on every level. To think that God would require this is a slight to God.
@tweetlebugzz10 жыл бұрын
God doesn't require anything fancy. Mormons beautify the temple to bring joy to others and to show love and respect to God. They are a symbol of sacrifice. I have seen your others posts, you clearly have a vendetta against the church. Why are you so angry? I hope that you are able to find some peace and joy in your life.

***** I count tithing and fast offering funds for the church every Sunday and help deposit them into the bank. Your prejudice comments show you know nothing about the LDS church. The LDS members are some of the most intelligent and generous people you will ever meet. No money is stolen and they willingly contribute to build temples and help the poor with fast offering funds. I know because I cut these checks to the poor and needy every week, but many outside the church don't know. The LDS church is the most organized church you will find on earth and they are wise stewards of the Lord's money. Nobody is given a promise of heaven if they pay tithing, but in the Bible the Lord promises he will bless you for paying tithing. Perhaps you don't believe in God or the Bible. The leaders have no power over the members. In fact, the leaders ARE the members -- for example a bishop is just a regular member who serves for about 5 years for NO pay. It's like working an additional 20-30 hours for free to serve others. Wow, how evil this church must be.

L. Meyer, your comment reminds me of the complaint the disciples made against Jesus when the woman poured very expensive ointment on his head. They angrily replied, "To what purpose is this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor." Jesus replied, "Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always." This woman was showing her love for the Savior and how precious He is to her. The temple is the same for us. It's not about money, it's a symbol of our love for our Heavenly Father. Is anything too good for the Lord? At the same time, it elevates our thoughts and feelings to a higher level when we visit the temple. It is a little heaven on earth. You can feel the spirit of God there.
@chriscoles776410 жыл бұрын
Jacob Rice & L. Meyer, Do you believe the Bible is the word of God? If so, then you must believe God commanded (with great detail) how Solomon's Temple was to be built and adorned. The gold and silver ALONE in Solomon's Temple today would be worth over $216 billion. That's Billion with a "B". That doesn't include the other precious metals, bronze, iron, ivory, or cedar wood used in the temple. Read this article: althistory.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:PitaKang/Funday_Monday_1:_How_much_did_Solomon's_Temple_cost%3F Why did God command this in the Bible? Couldn't God have used all that wealth to feed the poor? Solomon's Temple was built and torn down three times throughout history. Prophecy says it will be built a fourth time in the latter days.

@ldgarland40510 жыл бұрын
Gwen. After listening to the missionaries, going to sacrament, attended all meetings. One thing became very clear to me. First, record and listen to your own testamony. I bet you like all the others focus on Joseph smith, the BoM, and that the church is true...oh there is a little bit about Jesus. But in all the testamony I have heard it's about the LDS church. So saying the true church is about Christ is contradictory to its name... kind of like a chicken is what we worship but we only listen to Kentucky Fried Chicken. Well it has the name in the title.

Loran Garland I nor anyone I know in this church worships anyone but Jesus the Christ and Heavenly Father,. We are grateful to the prophets for what they do but we do not, have not and will not "worship" them so I don't understand all your comments clearly. and he wasn't self proclaimed any more than Noah or Moses or any other old prophet- that is just your opinion.
@ldgarland40510 жыл бұрын
Well Gwen. He was a self proclaimed prophet. I know this because if you read Deuteronomy it outlines what a false prophet does. If Joseph Smith had even one false prophecy then he is a false prophet. Also look at the definition of the BoM. It is another testament "gospel" of Jesus Christ. God even said in Galatians about men or angels giving another gospel that what God has given. Since the restoration of the church by Joseph Smith (see lds.org the authority to lead the church). John appeared to Joseph as an angel. This contradicts the D&C section 7 vs 1-3 where it states that John was given the power over death so he could proclaim and witness the return of the Lord. How can anyone ever proclaim that the church is true when there are so many contradictions Joseph Smith said. Do I believe that Mormons are evil or bad???? NO. they are good people who have been deceived by devils acting as angels giving them just enough for them so see what they want to see. The leaders act as a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Yes folks...for only 10% of your gross income (tithing), you can be found worthy to enter this beautiful castle where you can learn Masonic signs and tokens (handshakes). You may also learn that Jesus was a co-creator of earth (along with Michael/Adam). Oh, and you get to wear the baggy undergarments for the rest of your earthly existence! What a deal! You learn that Satan is a brother of Jesus! You learn that you get into the "celestial" kingdom by whispering to "God" the things that you learned in the temple (the masonic gestures).
