Barrett-Jackson - 1970 Olds W-31 Authentication

I love these W31's. I owned a 1970 Cutlass SX that had cut out bumpers dual exhaust and a 455 with a 2 Barrel. The W31 was not the only cutlass with bumper cut outs. Gold with brown interior, black vinyl top, console and SSII wheels with the trim rings. It made 320 hp 500 ftlb torque. It was a lot of fun to drive and great on long trips. Had AC & 8 track too. Also had the TH400 automatic tranny. No ram air, no vented hood. Good times...Found some stats on the SX: - L33 455 cubic inch big block with a 2-bbl carburetor - M40 automatic transmission with OG performance code calibration - Dual exhausts - 442 exhaust trumpets and the obligatory notched rear bumper - Highway gears for economy - SX emblems

Blah Blah. Yes But these are Super Rare and deserve much respect. I drove a '74 W30 H/O yrs ago low compression. Wasn't impressed. Hi Compression cars different story. W31s were made to rev to 6500. Gear ratio's ranged from 3.90 to 4.56 well tuned examples get well into the 13's. Pretty good for a sb Olds Dr Olds dropped the Mic on this one.

Does it have headers ? I heard that they never made duel exhaust system for the small block...I heard that the rally olds they used Micky Thompson Headers...and what about the red plastic fender wells??? So what is the car a Cutlass or 442 I heard that they made a couple F-85's with the 442 W-30 455 I have seen a couple Cutlass with cut out bumpers brand new

Cutlass were available with factory dual exhausts. I had '74 Supreme with factory dual. The right side manifold had a block off plate where the crossover pipe would of attached from the left side. 74 dual exhaust 350 Olds were rated at 200 net HP 30 hp more than the single exhaust models. I have an original 68-75 Chiltons that list's it if you doubt me. Not to mention it list's the ratings for all brands and is surprisingly accurate. I wouldn't sell it for nothing. Plus I have older one's too great resource.
