A real champion and a gentleman with great integrity. Really knew how to play the game fairly and with positive intent.

He turned into a bit of a thug in the twilight of his career, good player though.

Robran was almost a mythical character over here in Victoria. He never came over to play no what money they offered him. He deserves a lot of credit for that. He was a Unicorn in the sense that he was a rare sportsman.

There is some irony in the fact that Leigh Matthews is considered the greatest of all time in Victoria and it was he that effectively ended Robran's career in the State Game of 1974 where South Aussies thought he was the best that had ever played. Most of the highlight reels in the video are post the knee injury. There wasn't a lot of video coverage in the the late 60's early70's so his best moments on field are only alive in people's memories. I was too young to see him but everyone in SA have in front of blokes like Bradley, Kernahan , Blight etc who did so very well in the VFL.

Reminds me a bit of Terry Daniher in way he looked to play and his personality.

Strangely enough narrated by bob Harnett who was more recognisable in WA sporting circles
