In 1998, Indigenous visual storyteller Dorothy Christian Cucw-la7 of the Secwepemc-Syilx Nations traveled to the central city Chicano Barrios of Phoenix, Arizona to research, produce and direct the following documentary on the efforts of the Cuatro Milpas “Gang Members” to bring peace to their communities.
Today, over 25 years later, the surviving representatives of the original Cuatro Milpas Barrio Peace Treaty will reconvene and recommit to the Path of Peace with each other, with all of humanity and with Mother Earth in a ceremonial indigenous celebration known as Yohualpapalotl, occurring at dawn of the Butterfly Sun (Fall Equinox) on September 22, 2020.
The event will coincide with similar ceremonies being realized simultaneously throughout the continent in exercise of our inherent right of Self Determination as Original Nation of Indigenous Peoples and in reaffirmation of our responsibilities as defenders of the Territorial Integrity of Mother Earth.

Good video and content. It would’ve been a good thing for us as an overall gente to have this wisdom and understanding back then to present day to fully understand that in the end we’re the same gente. In high school, my varrio was cool with Milpas but it drastically changed in the late 80’s, as the guerra between la Nueve and Duppes engulfed almost the whole ES as almost every ES varrio along with LCM was aligned against us. Glad we’re here to tell the stories now and can spread the unity amongst all of our gente to learn from our mistakes and unite as one big familia. Much love and respect for the video gente ✊🏽

Thank you for the video. LCM was only called Milpas a few year later LCM 4 corners bc some family will move out from the LCM park. for example they will move to sunnyslope and start a new LCM gang there and change the side cuz they moved up north and sunnyslope also have a 13 street park. LCM hoods alway have to have a park to gather up meetings.
