Why can’t we *EVER* get a happy ending for Barry Allen? I mean, yeah there have been more than a few apocalyptic or just unhappy futures for Superman, Batman, etc. But we have literally never seen a happy ending for the Flash Family. They are always killed, go back in time and then die, permanently debilitated/handicapped, turned into some sort of nightmarish abomination, or just straight up disappear. That combined with the fact that Flash stories are usually based around moving instead of living in the past or being ruled by fear makes their stories seem really surreal, and almost deceptive and sadistic.

@@micjoco I was actually kind of hopeful for a awhile because in Batman Beyond, they showed an older Barry Allen who still had his powers, but was either inactive or just active off panel, but the point was is that his time was either past or getting there, and rather liked that. Seeing Barry basically settling into a position similar to the one Jay often holds in current comics: an aging speedster who can still kick quite a lot but has realized that it’s time for a new generation to start taking the reigns and all of the danger and responsibility that comes with it. They can’t save the world forever, and fitting with The Flash theme, growing old is all part of moving forward. In that sense Barry getting older just kind of feels right at this point. But then they seemingly just killed off Old Man Barry in the ongoing Flash title about 2-3 issues later just to set up for next big villain.

This is actually really impressive for the flash to do because we don't always see the flash use his own tech to fight he always uses speed to fight we dont see the flash use his natural skills and that's why this is an interesting story!
