They have the best relationship in any TV show. it is a shame to acknowledge that it has gone downhill but it's because of iris the virus. and how everything has to be about her now and Caitlin is at best an acquaintance otherwise Iris would have a meltdown as well as that I don't say this lightheartedly but I do believe that there is something wrong with iris mental health because she's willing to impale herself with a sword just to head-butt someone and then blames Marles saying that she stabbed Iris and whenever anyone that tries to defend the humanity in Marlees she gets mega defensive even against Harry Who at that time had brain problems because of the thinking cap and abusing the safety Limit by introducing dark matter. As well as that in season 1 Iris was not interested in Barry at all it was only after she found out he was the flash that she even considered contemplating being in a relationship with him and while she is in a relationship with him there are frequent occasions where she complains that he's not using his Super Speed like to clean up the mess in the Christmas episode and one of the time that I can't specifically remember off top of my head but Iris is toxic to Barry ok she makes him happy in the moment but in the long run it's going to go downhill even her own daughter doesn't like her so that speaks volumes don't you think?
