That song was the Bee Gees’. Barry first performed it in 67 or 68. You should see it, on the Ed Sullivan show. Andy hero-worshipped his older brother, Barry. And they were like the second set of twins in the family.

Andy was about 23 here & by the way, he did have a superstar career for awhile--his first 3 singles all went to #1, he hosted Solid Gold, he appeared in Pirates of Pinzance & Joseph's Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, was a duet king, entertained troops with Bob Hope (great video of it), guested on countless tv shows & specials as a singer & in comedy skits. He had the gift just like his brothers, each displaying his own unique talent for us to enjoy. RIP Andy, Robin & Maurice. Thank you & love to Sir Barry Gibb.❤❤❤❤

Check out Andy's, "Shadow Dancing", and "I Just Want To Be Your Everything", his 1st hit! He was a heartthrob in the 70's! The woman that introduced him was Victoria Principal. They had a relationship, and she broke his heart! The Bee Gees wrote all his songs!

That shakiness is called vibrato, it’s intentional. Barry wrote it and coached Andy. He was too young when the BeeGees began. The BeeGees planned to have him join the group, but Andy died before that happened. Andy passed away a few days after his 30th birthday.

The BeeGees were established in 1958 and Andy was born in 1956. That's why it was important for Andy to be accomplish a career on his own and know it was because of his own talent and not because of his brothers. He was just as talented. They announced in the beginning of 1988 that Andy would be joining the BeeGees as a permanent member. Sadly though he died March 10th of that year. Five days after his 30th birthday. That was his girlfriend Victoria Principle that introduced him. When he was looking out of the side of his eyes when he sang one of the lines i would imagine he was looking at her. His addiction was the reason for their break up. It wasn't easy for them and of course it was very public. The brothers said in an interview that the song For Whom The Bell Tolls was about Andy and Victoria. I love these brothers so much. They have brought so much joy to my life. Tears too.

He was the first concert I ever went to! What a talent lost so early. This performance would have been at height of his drug use and shortly before Victoria Principal told him it’s me or the drugs. Remember so clearly the announcement of his death.

I'm so glad you reacted to this video. I leave the link to this video for reactors all the time. I believe this was President Reagan's Inauguration Dinner. When he sings breathy like that it's called Tremolo. It's my favorite Andy Gibb performance. I had to go back and look the first time I saw it to make sure they said it was Andy. I thought, wait a minute, is that Barry. Barry said in an interview that he and Andy had identical birthmarks. He said they had a bond like twins only they were 12 years apart. Pretty awesome. The BeeGees recorded this song in very late 60's or very early 70's.

From what I’ve read about Andy, by the time of this performance he was struggling with his addiction to drugs and it had started to affect his voice, this was 1981. Andy started as a solo artist in 1975 when he was 17 years old. If you listen to his early music like I JUST WANT TO BE YOUR EVERYTHING his first #1, you can hear the difference in his voice. There is a lot of similarity in Barry’s and Andy’s voices and with time Andy’s voice might have matured closer to Barry’s but unfortunately drugs and his early death at 30 from myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) we’ll never know. Words was written by Barry, Robin and Maurice in 1967 and Barry sang it, It became Barry’s signature song. Perhaps Andy sang it in a higher voice to differentiate from Barry. I love both versions of the song. ❤❤❤❤

That is Barry’s signature song that he has sang since the 60s. Two great performances of this song by Barry are 1979 Spirits tour snd 1989 In Melbourne. Andy was to have joined them starting on their album One but passed away so that album was dedicated to him and several songs talked losing him like Wish you were here and tears. ❤❤

Andy was talented in his own right he was a solo artist and no one can take anything from Andy he was my favorite of the brother's Gibb. He was not in anyone's shadow not even Barry. @@FierySquirrel. Robin's first solo album was 1970....WORDS wasn't on it or any subsequent solo album. In 1968, it was the A-side of a 45 (B-side was SINKING SHIPS). According to Barry & Robin, it was about their manager Robert Stigwood, but was written by Barry while staying at Robert's place at Adams Row. It also was Barry's solo spot in concerts over the span of their career....kinda like how I STARTED A JOKE was Robin's.....which I don't think Barry would ever have sung solo.

Andy was just about to be a beegee they had rehearsed ready for him to join them and as you know he died just before it happened. Andy and Barry were identical they were both left handed and had the same birth marks, incredible and such a shame 😢❤

All of them were greatly influenced by their childhood and teenage years in Australia. The BeeGees honed their performing skills by live gigs and by numerous television appearances. Some of those are available to watch on KZbin. When they decided to chase their musical ambitions back to England (their country of birth) in the late 60s, the whole family relocated. In one of the documentaries, Maurice talks about one week being in a music shop in Sydney looking at records, and shortly after meeting some of the artists/bands in England. It was surreal for them. But eventually Andy returned to Australia to get him ready for his music career as his brothers believed it was the best preparation he could get. He fathered a child whom I believe stayed in Australia. I also believe that the Gibbs sister also stayed in Australia.

He was a heartthrob for teenage girls and his voice was well developed and powerful with range not unlike his brother Barry's. Andy's problem was cocaine and, later, alcohol. She was 8 years older than Andy, but they had a torrid romance that was ruined in large part by his drug addiction. He died 35 years ago! He had his own solo act! He and Barry were very close! And yes they wrote some songs together! Listen to Shadow Dancing! He was a lot younger than the other 3 brothers born in 1958 and Barry 1946 and the twins in 1949! They do have a sister named Leslie she is the eldest of the 5 children! And yes she can sing too, but chose not to make it her career! All of their children are musical too!

Yes this is the 4th brother, who unfortunately died of complications from drug use soon after this time period. The lady introducing him, Victoria Principal (actress from Dallas) was his girlfriend. Rumour was he died of a broken heart after they broke up. 💔

Andy was sad. He lost a woman he loved too much! She. played Bobby's first wife Pam. The soap opera , Dallas. It went on about 10.years. First episode was 1977. She was very beautiful then. ( Real name Victoria Principle) When she rejected his pleas , he killed himself Andy did not even realize he was handsome!! No competition needed !
