Diller is brilliant. Doesn't matter whether you agree or disagree with him, he intuitively understands the human condition and contributes in a positive way.

Why were the cable companies margins decreasing while the prices were going up? And why were they going up? @3:40

They decreased as the content companies stepped up their game and gained importance.

Seems like a cool guy. I'll add some of the movies he suggested to my LetterBoxd watchlist.

Read Edmtund Phelps "Mass Flourishing." Socialism and Corporatism are pretty much the same thing.

He WISHES that REDS will be remembered. It's a fine film, but only attracts a small group of admirers. LOST HORIZON 1973 has a larger cult followering than REDS.

Amazing how such a strident, biased set of opinions is supported by taxpayers. I'm talking about the host here. Also, interesting that almost nobody watches this. When will we stop having to be forced to pay for these one-sided organizations?

I don’t think that many of Diller’s viewpoints are valid. For instance, Top Gun, Avatar, and Elvis were 3 of the biggest money makers of the year, and they’re well represented at The Oscars this year. He argues that The Menu should have been nominated: it’s a decent film but not quite worthy of Oscar consideration. I guess we’re just supposed to agree that this guy is the scion on Hollywood and taste. I think not. It seems likely, too, that EEAAO is going to win Best Pic and/or Director, and it’s clearly both a film that did reasonably decent box office, was very well reviewed by critics, and beloved by audiences.
