I have reclaimed VAT on my wife's mobility scooter in order for her to be able to buy Tunnocks Caramel Wafers. The VAT on chocolate biscuits is higher rate whereas if there is no chocolate you pay the lower rate. But you can actually get the whole of the VAT back on a mobility scooter if you are registered disabled WHETHER OR NOT there is any chocolate on the disability scooter. The pastor on my Church used to put Tunnocks Caramel Wafers on the table at the Manse after church while he was still alive, but he went Home some ten years ago now. I'm not sure if the VAT exemption applied in those days.
