I see loads of explanations of the 6th Diminished but this is super clear. What it can’t show in such a short look is the power of this approach. So many connections and reinforcements if you are prepared to see how 6s minor sixths and diminished what they can voice and how movements build from them. But yep I hear you Shan, don’t “know it” feel it in your hands and ears to get the benefit.

It's a good explanation adding to the existing videos out there. Still it's a challenging concept for mediocre amateurs (like myself). I pick up standards from real book all the time, but I find it hugely difficult to determine when I can apply these concepts. And especially when to borrow 1 or rather 2 or even 3 notes. Not sure if you're willing to spend another video on it. But I'd certainly appreciate a full breakdown of a song in C major (so we can follow). Perhaps it would be best to pick a song you've never played yourself before to guide us through your own thought process. Anyway, big fat thumbs up for this one!

When playing in C, then the D diminished is easily transformed to the dominant G by playing G in the bass. Easy. When playing a 2-5-1 , when you play the Dm7 you don’t have an easy move to the G dom chord, what’s the best way to “think” about this? E.g play Dm7, then play Ddim with G in bass? Or play Dm7 then flatten fifth and put G in bass? Or play F#6 with D in bass (Dm7) then play D dim with G in bass?
