Shan! I have been devouring Barry’s idea s and practicing them on guitar for the last two years…. Been using to for some chord melody flavor. But never quite grasped, and never have gotten an answer from any other KZbin teachers on specifically how to apply it to a ii-V. This is beyond helpful-it’s revelatory. A million thank you’s!

You're literally the only person I've encountered teaching BH concepts with a very straightforward approach. I learned the 6th diminished from another online instructor and it took me a week to figure out a way to present it to my students in the way you just did. I'm always glad to come across your lessons! All the best!

I like how Barry used the word "movements" to describe this process because it alludes to how counterpoint is the basis for all harmony historically, rather than the contemporary concept of "chord progressions."

Super clear, really shows the potential of this approach. It’s a route to endless possibilities not a closed off set of sounds. So glad I took the plunge and joined Jazz Skills, so many materials, so much help from you and the other Jazz Skillers - and whisper it, but so much fun as well. Sometimes hard to see your own improvement from the inside, but wow the progress I’ve seen in other members is quite amazing, but also inspiring. As always thanks Shan you doing an important job fantastically.

Ever notice how similar My One and Only Love is to Like Someone In Love? That descending harmony shape and also the big 10th jumps in the melody

It’s interesting that at 4:00 the F6 basically becomes F dim. Aka Aflat dim.

Why you never talk about dominant7 diminished scale?
@Bikemutler
@Bikemutler 16 күн бұрын
The dominant 7th diminished scale comes from the minor 6 diminished scale… play the minor 6 chord on the 5th degree of g7 which would be D minor 6.

All these Barry Harris channels repeat the same stuff over and over again. i guess it’s an ongoing marketing thing to keep attracting new beginners?

Many of these Barry Harris channels seem kind grifty to me. Does anyone else feel this way? It’s like Barry Harris spawned a cottage industry run by mediocre talents. just being brutally honest here

Look, we're all at the end of the day trying to learn some more music and increase our repertoire of available tools to enhance our musicianship. Take all that garbage internet talk out of here, it's completely unproductive and immature talk.
