Bebop tutorial. Wonderful video. Thanks for posting.
I love this excerpt, so cool, a great example of musicianship and groove. Actually I have been listening to it more than once every day for a week or more. So deceptively simple and obvious, I have been trying to do the same (improvise this relaxed way on the Parkerian blues changes) for a long time now and it is not easy at all !!

Then keep up with Dr Harris and Bird but add to it. Mike Longo’s The Rhythmic Nature of Jazz 4 part series. it’s incomparable

i would amend that to bebop jazz pianist - Bill Evans Herbie McCoy went in other directions and are easily the equal to the great great Dr Harris. That bebop language has been diluted and modified since Bird and Diz. Barry is the closest or one of. I strongly strongly recommend working with the hand drum and following mike longo Rhythmic Nature of Jazz ? 4 parts Barry played bebop a tad better than Mike. but Mike’s method is straight from the heart of the rhythm of bebop. Dizzy Gillespie. Dizzy told Mike. referring to Bird. that Bird had the MELODIC aspect That’s why Bird has never been surpassed. he had high degree of both the melodic and rhythmic -get it? for rhythm , study Mike Longo method , a humble derivative of his mentor Dizzy Gillespie . Dizzy was probably the deepest rhythmically with be bop. but Bird was the ultimate melodically while still having the rhythmic part

Por favor!!! Es un maestro, cada frase que hace, las vueltas para atrás que tiene, como insiste. Sin duda un lenguaje único de la época, vigente hasta hoy.

Barry Harris is the best living representative of that jazz language if i were interested in jazz i would listen to him and Bird Daily But though not quite as great a bebop pianist. Mike Longo has a superior method to anyone. throw away the metronome and check out Mike Longo 4 DVD or online series - on rhythmic nature of jazz there is no one since , that embodied the Bebop spirit of Diz and Bird Mike was a disciple of Diz and his method reflects his deep absorption of this language

Jack Noke It's the turnaround back to the tonic of which is C7. The progression is mentioned above by OP.

Tomasz Białowolski Ah yes ok, a tritone 2-5 sub then because it's a blues in standard form isn't it?
@lepredator1897 жыл бұрын
Jack Noke you're right, it's the 1-6-2-5-1 turnaround all tritone subs, 1-b3-b6-b2-1. The b6 sounds major here, could also be a 7.
