Naomie Harris shot her scenes in 3 days? I'm no actor so maybe I don't know shit, but I can't imagine having to jump between playing one character in three different life stages, all of which are radically different, in such a short period of time while delivering strong performances across the board. Major kudos to her, and the rest of the cast, of course. Definitely one of the strongest films of the year.

Sigh, Naomie Harris ... I absolutely love her and was drawn to this movie simply because she was in it. However, the actors ... especially Trevante Rhodes and, OMG, Ashton Durrand! Incredible performances! I cannot believe that this is Ashton's 1st staring role. That guy was absolutely amazing in this film.

SAY IT AGAIN! mahershala and naomi are good but theyre the least of this movie. film of the year i say.

Edie xo right everyone has overly hyped mahershala and naomi because for me those three young me especially Ashton they made this movie what it was

This is the best film of the year. It laid out a beautiful heartbreaking coming to age story. It shows a honest perspective on life growing up in certain situations. You really empathize with each character. being from the Bronx I seen/knew the people in film when I was growing up.

Just got back from seeing it now and holy shit it truly did deserve best picture this year. It was nothing short of incredible. Everything from the performances, to the script and music were top notch. Movies as special as Moonlight don't come by very often, and it truly deserves all the praise it's getting. Go see it people!!

The number one thing that kept me in the movie was the eyes. They tell so much. Chiron's eyes looks dark, souless and troubled. A long, distant stare.
@cyberwriter213 жыл бұрын
I also noticed that the three actors who are playing Chiron have very similar eyes so through them you can recognize that it's the same character even though it's not the same actor
@gaddovame28797 жыл бұрын
Why have they omitted the young actor who plays teen age Kevin? I have watched several panel discussions and full cast interviews, yet he isn't included in any of them. His character certainly plays a significant part of the story line.

I know this movie would creep me out, to see two Black men falling in love with each other. I feel like this will be the, Pandora's Box of a agenda that is changing the world today, to only produce soft men. My soul can't handle it. Not going to see it. All I can say is, whatever floats your boat. Enjoy!
@TheMrSEBSTER7 жыл бұрын
wow, how insecure are you that that is your response to a thought-provoking and insightful film?
@messenger21027 жыл бұрын
Insecure...It's not about being insecure, It about how I look at what a strong black man really is to me. Insecure no...unnatural is more like it. All I can say is TO EACH IS OWN. Glad you enjoyed the movie. Tyler Perry has some competition now.

messenger2102 This is absolutely not what this movie is about. I went in blind. I had no idea what this movie was about. I'd just heard it was good. It is truly captivating. It's a human story that you can relate to no matter what race, identity, or sexual orientation you are. This is a story of growing up human. You do yourself a great disservice allowing your fears to not see this masterpiece

Toia Star From some of the clips I saw I could see that it dealt with what is going on in the inner cities. But I think that it was in this movie just to play on our emotions. The devastation of blacks in the inner cities will make anyone cry, if they have a soul. We have seen this played out in movies over and over and over... the poor black people, the mothers a crack head movies. I am tired of it. But what I had a problem with was, the real agenda for this movie...that was all to subliminal. And while you are so caught up in this movie with the emotional part (poor little boy being misunderstood, crack head mother, living in the ghetto) the real agenda of this movie could be sweetly placed in...and that to me was...what's wrong with having homosexual feeling, it won't hurt you, it's all about love...SUBLIMINAL MESSAGE This would not be my pick in movies, but I am glad you enjoyed it. Take Care :)
