Childhood hero. I still have my little die cast model of his bike. Still write my 7’s with the cross bar, still like Brut. Thank you Barry. Legend

Barry Sheene was a 'rock star' , i was a teen when he raced in Malaysia for Yamaha, he had lots of charisma besides race skill. He is a true embassodor for the sport. Daring,sporting,handsome,rugged,cheeky,witty...he had everything!! R.I.P. my hero.

how typical of Bazza to win his final race even with terminal cancer, and against the magnificent Wayne Gardner. Lifetime hero

Always in good spirits even through cancer. He was a good man and, oddly enough, a humble person. That made him lead his glory days with all that glamour: he knew he was just an ordinary bloke from Britain and decided he'd eat it all through and through, cos it was his life's lucky chance.

I enjoyed that race as much as any I have ever watched, is was edge of the seat stuff, big shout out for Wayne too, he was one of my fav's back then, with Schwantz etc! Without Wayne it would have been a walk in the park for Bazza! I hope wherever you are it is as much fun as you had here on earth Barry! All the best to a true sporting hero!

Barry Sheene was my childhood hero. He came from a time in sport when the stars were real and approachable. I feel sorry for today's youth, where the so called stars such as Valentino Rossi are nothing more than gurning posuers.

We schoolboys idolised Barry in the 70's, and I was lucky enough to watch him contest the Transatlantic Trophy against Kenny Roberts in about '79 or '80, at Brands Hatch. However, this is a film I will watch over and over again, thank you so much for uploading.

Sad to see Barry go "under the Chequered flag" so young. Motorbikes knocked him about but the smoking finished him off! I interviewed Barry after his first Grand Prix year. He won the 125cc race in Finland, but he also burnt down the disgusting toilet block. He said, "At the prize presentation 'l got the biggest cheer, and I still don't know if I got it for winning the race or burning the bogs down!" Looking forward to your return Barry, after Armaggedon. R.I.P. means Resurrection In Paradise. Bible's promise in John 5:28, 29. Alan Peck 🐴

Oh yes i remember that win in Sweden, I was 19 and couldn't wait to get MCN to expand on the one paragraph in the daily paper. Like you I was a Ron fan, he was a little unfortunate to be on the scene with Kenny, Barry, Eddie Lawson, Freddie, Rainey and co. We might as well accept we will not see the likes of Barry again. Thank goodness we were at the right place at the right time to enjoy those great days ...they really were great!
@simongeary39624 жыл бұрын
Ronmight have done a lot better if he learned that to win .you need to finish . and to finish you have to stay on the bike .and not keep over riding and throwing it up the road ,

Even the name Barry Sheene takes me right back to my childhood obsession. I'd ask for Barry's book for Christmas and read it cover to cover. I once had a great compliment from some copper. I was stopped on my CBX and before he realised I wasn't a boy he said 'Who do you think you are, Barry Sheene. We heard you coming all the way from Market Drayton.' 😂 My own racing career was cut tragically short when I moved out of my parents and couldn't afford to race my old TZ 350A 😭

I hate cancer and the misery it brings to so many, Barry loved a smoke, so much so, that he actually had a hole drilled into his helmet so he could smoke right up till the race started.....Sooner or later, the cancer was going to strike....Brilliant sportsmen and sadly missed...RIP Barry
@MasterChief-sl9ro7 жыл бұрын
Plenty of people die from Lung and Esophagus Cancer that never smoked a day in their life... It could just be sniffing all the 2 stroke oil and high octane gas for 40 years. Just genetics seems cruel who gets what....
