I was a big wrestling fan back then and looked forward to seeing the top wrestler of the tournament, Tomiyama. But ABC did not show the gold medal match because the American did not win. That really irked me at the time. Who cares if he is not American? Tomiyama was the outstanding wrestler of the 84 Games.

Got his autograph along with Dan Gable, Ed and Lou BancacK at the first IU-ISU wrestling match in the brand new Carver Hawkeye arena back in Feb 1983.

Barry shot quite a few single legs or high c's that were basically shrugged off by Tomiyama. It shows how difficult it is to grab a leg and score on that level.
