Barry, you’re the real deal, my friend. You speak very well and explain things where there are no grey areas. You reassure the listener with everything you say. Thank you!

Great video Barry! I u ads e the audient ID44 for over 2 years and I love it. I haven’t used any hardware beyond an ADAT for I/O expansion but hope to get more outboard in the future. This video will help when that time comes. Well done

This is sooo useful.. it's basically a manual of how to do and think this out! Grateful again mr! 😎😎🍺

Really curious about a smaller set up using out board gear with just the Audient inserts

exactly ; thats what i was expecting ; because im starting simple when i buy my audient in novl😃 for vocal chain - id44 - heritage i73 preamp and stamp 1176 compressor using the inserts on ID44

Thank you Awesome Barry! It’s great that you’re using the Also-Awesome id44. I only have one external compressor (Also-Awesome Stam 76+) so won’t need a 8/16 yet, but your video will be (‘you guessed it) awesome as a reference once I do. :)

What I'd like to see Is an explanation of what happens to the levels of a signal in an hybrid setup like this.

I use both Adat inputs on my audient id44 and am recording everything at 48. I did find that I needed to buy a standalone word clock to run everything off of because I was getting volume drops, little clicks, etc. the hardware clock ended up fixing most of this.

Running studio one 6. I have a rme ucx ii with a cranborne 500adat. I use the rme adi 2 pro fs as my converter. I have been thinking about how I would expand my I/O when the time come. I don't have anymore adat on the ucx ii. The adat on my adi 2 pro is free but won't show up in total mix. I'm researching it but this video is making me think about the best way to do it.

Great video! how i used in the daw?

Hi Barry, would you then recommend the extra cost of the Cranbourne Audio ADAT 500 series products for the simplicity and needing less cables? At face value, they seem expensive but starting to see all the different components you would need to hook it all up without one. Thanks!

Why didn’t you use the BNC cable to sync with the Audient clock?
@BarryJohns11 күн бұрын
- The iD44 can only accept an external clock signal though its optical inputs, the BNC connector is an output only
@fbiagetti6 ай бұрын
The way you have it wired you would need to clock from the X8 in, you would need to use BNC if you want to clock from the audient
@BarryJohns6 ай бұрын
Nope, you clock via ADAT.
@fbiagetti6 ай бұрын
@@BarryJohns how? The x8in only outputs, where does it get the clock from if not BNC?
@BarryJohns6 ай бұрын
I mention it in the video, you clock via ADAT, which is what most people have been doing for a long time.
@fbiagetti6 ай бұрын
@@BarryJohns maybe I’m thick (wouldn’t be the first time 😂) or missing something, but as far as I can see the X8 in is a standalone device that only has adat outputs, no adat in. So it only outputs the signal and cannot receive any clock from adat. So either the x8 in needs to be the master of the whole chain, or BNC needs to be used to make the audient the master.
@BarryJohns6 ай бұрын
These are to add additional to your main interface, not used as standalone. Your main interface, example the Audient ID44, would be your master clock, the X8 in and/or X8 out would use the Audient as the master clock.

🙄😏 It will sound a bit mystical: if you have to use colored wires, follow the order of the rainbow 💖💛💚💙💜🖤

Hey Barry . The xlrs are reversed . You are calling the xlr female the male and the male the female
@albiss11643 ай бұрын
I noticed that too. For any newcomers to audio connectors, males have pins and females have holes.
