It does work but don’t expect it to repair a seal that is physically broken, it only causes a dried out seal to swell back out to its original size temporarily

This, I use the stuff like every other oil change it works well enough but not permanent, cars worth keeping (since it runs fine). Less oil leaking is better but the car isn't worth having the rear main seal replaced. As the saying goes "You can find a mechanic about anywhere but not in a bottle". Ideally you should properly fix things as a bandaid repair never lasts long term but some things simple are not economical. I'm also 99% sure they say this stuff takes like 200-500 miles for best results as well.

All internal combustion engines essentially operate the same way and have the same basic issues.

Does it work on a CVT transmission?
@rosieclark3661Ай бұрын
No don’t just jack it up change the fluid preferably with Castrol CVT fluid or Amsoil if you’re willing to spend a lil bit more money especially if it’s a Honda or Nissan CVT also replace the filter and gaskets and use some permatex

That's a brand new lawn mower. He loosened the bolts - the oils probably over filled to begin with if it's coming out of the muffler. Didn't even conclude.

That cover gasket is known to leak, I fixed mine with RTV. Just picked up a bottle of Rear Main repair to use in a snowblower that is 12 yrs old and one of the crank seals leaked out some of the oil over the past year. Hoping it softens the dried up seals, not a big deal because it only gets used an hour a year unless there is a huge storm.

Typically, products such as this only temporarily address a symptom. Then the unforeseen consequences that they bring show up later. Then you find out that the cure is worse than the disease. Case in point: Remember the problems created by stop leak in the cooling system? Judging by the smoke and rough running, the engine has more problems than an oil leak. Adding stop leak works by making the oil thicker. Adding it to a worn out engine may buy a little time, but it won’t fix it. In the case of a modern vehicle that uses 0W20, it could turn a repairable problem into engine failure. I generally stay away from cures in a bottle.

@@averyalexander2303 i used a torch on the motor then placed it back on among other things. It didn't do percent but it slowed down dramatically. I dont know if it will last.
