Great job, this is an older song , Troy was playing the Irish Uilleann Pipes , they are driven by a bellows under the right elbow that he pumps up while playing to produce the air unlike the Scottish bag pipes that get blown in to for air flow . They have a keltic sound in a lot of songs . Many Nightwish songs have a folky sound, in fact that was the original intention when the band was first formed. Those pipes are Troy's main instrument. He has always been involved with folky music, so he really fitted in when he joined Nightwish after being a session player with them for a few years. The bassist, Marco Hietala is also a very versatile singer. Both he and Floor can do anything from classical clean vocals to rock and metal screams and growls. Marco takes lead vocal in a few Nightwish songs. He's also fronted a few bands previous to joining. He has left Nightwish, taking a couple of years off due to disillusionment with the music industry and depression. He seems recovered now and has been performing music live again, from his solo album. Marco looks even more like a viking. He and Floor have often been described as a viking and a valkyrie!

When Floor is speaking, she is not projecting as much. Due to her classical and music theater training, her singing voice projects much more (not as much as when she's doing actual opera). That is why volume was diff in beginning... the FOH has volume set for her singing level.

Great reaction and great introduction to the crazy South American metal fans. You can always count on them to take the show to the next level. The chant from the crowd was an adaptation of the local football(soccer) club chant praising Nightwish. This performance was from the Decades tour which was a celebration of over 20 years of Nightwish music and included a number of songs that had not been played in decades. Concert was in 2018 but the DVD this video is from was released in 2019. I think this is your first time seeing multi-instrumentalist Troy Donockley. He is English and is playing the Uillieann Pipes, the national bagpipes of Ireland. They differ from Scottish bagpipes in that they use a bellows under the right arm to inflate the bag leaving the mouth free for singing (Troy was singing harmony along with Marko and Floor) or having a pint while playing in the pub. Uillieann is Gaelic for elbow. This song is from the Imaginaerum album, a concept album about a composer on his deathbed looking back on his life. This song is about the desire to return to our youth where we felt everything more passionately. As we get older and gain experience we became jaded and look at life with less joy and wonder. Thus the composer's desire to "want my tears back" i.e. to once again feel things strong enough to cry. For more Celticy sounds try My Walden (from Endless Forms Most Beautiful and written for Floor's voice) where you will get a little of Troy singing in Welsh (I think?), Elevenjig/Elvenpath (live in Buenos Aries or Bogota), Elan or Harvest (Troy singing lead). For a really great song written for Floor try How's the Heart, acoustic from Planet Rock, or Shoemaker. I prefer the lyric video for Shoemaker but the live performance from either Hellfest or Deichbrand in 2022 are pretty epic.

Marko is the name you’re looking for. His vocal chops are pretty close to Floor’s. The two of them together are magnificent. For more Marko, try Seven Days to the Wolves and High Hopes, which is Nightwish’s tribute to Pink Floyd. Marko knocks it out of the park.

Floor's role as a front lady evolved from 2012/13 and up. The guys also needed a few month / concerts to adjust to her stage presence and charisma - and from their second world tour with Floor (Vehicle of Spirit -and songs written to her) in 2015 - Floor became a lot more " the Nightwish front" and she also literally steps away and out of the lights whenever some of the others are "on". And she also engages the others much more individually - her and Emppu have so much fun together - and her and Marko's duets are often almost like theater, two people having a conversation. And her engagement with the audience are much more direct, but that comes with the role as front person, but Floor is quite unique in that role. There is no doubt that Floor is the front person Tuomas and the guys had been searching for - she are able to tell the stories so convincing that the audience literally feels they are a part of the stories. It's never about her - the stories are always the alfa and omega in her presence - she becomes the stories and drags you in. Nightwish concerts are such a special experience - and that's something Floor has a big influence on.

F.y.i.: there's a new Drummer. Kai Hahto (from 'Wintersun') replaces Jukka Nevalainen (in the Wacken-2013 Show) because of a very bad insomnia he suffered from years. And this Show is one of the latest where Marko Hietala (2nd singer and Bassist) is a band member😪. He quit in 2020 because of personnel and private reasons (not of difficulties with the band!) He has been replaced by Jukka Koskinen (also 'Wintersun'). From There on the Sound of Nightwish has changed a Bit, means: a lot of their older songs can't be played without Marko. But time has changed... B.t.w. you should watch and react to 'Wintersun' "Sons of Winter and stars" and "Time" with Kai and Jukka! It's an adventure!

Hello again Bars & Barbells. Yes. This is such a terrific performance and Floor teasing the crowd into a frenzy before it even started. So Marco is the bass player who has a terrific rock voice himself. Troy is the multi-instrumentalist who is playing the Uillean Pipes (Irish Elbow Pipes where he pumps the bellows under his right elbow and squeezes the bag under his left elbow to blow wind through the pipes' reeds to produce the bagpipe sounds). This was another really fun reaction to our beloved Nightwish from both of you. Thank you.

This was recorded on September 30th 2018 at Estadio Malvinas stadium in Buenos Aires, but released on their "Decades" DVD/Blu-Ray in 2019. Floor was also already getting sick, so sick that just four days later in Bogota she could hardly talk, but under medication still managed to do their entire show.

Those were the Irish bagpipes.. It is the native Irish instrument. In the country, Irish Bagpipes are known as Uilleann bagpipes. ‘Uilleann’ literally means elbow in the Irish language. The Irish started to play the Bagpipes in the 20th century.

Buenos Aires 2018 where Floor breathed new life in to a number of Nightwish classics that pre-date her time with the band. This show also pre-dates my discovering Nightwish and Floor. The Irish “flavour” comes from the Celtic influence. The Celts were thought to have originated from Anatolia moved west into Iberia, then north into France, Britain, Ireland, into the Low Countries such as the Netherlands and Denmark and the Scandinavian countries. Also the Vikings had a lot of interaction with Ireland, hence culture influences spreading across nations

Wacken is pronounced "Va ken", which is less naughty sounding. Its in Germany so V and W sounds are reversed from American English. On a more important note, its so impressive how Floor can sing so well on this one while dancing vigorously around the stage. She loves crowd energy and in many interviews states preference for big energetic crowds.
