They don't make them like they used to. Frank Sinatra was such a smooth crooner. This is before auto tuning. Artists had to be really able to sing. And the lyrics were clean, romantic & really meant something. He has a huge library of great songs. Some of my favorites are "Fly Me To The Moon", "New York, New York", "Strangers In The Night", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "That's Life", "My Kind Of Town", "Summer Wind" etc. And he did a duet with his daughter Nancy called "Something Stupid" in 1967.

Sinatra was the comeback kid, his life was not all smooth sailing. His career was on the skids in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Suicide attempts, vocal cord damage, and a tumultuous marriage all played out in the public eye. He had to beg for the role in the movie From Here to Eternity, which ended up winning him an academy award in 1953.

"My Way" is a song popularized in 1969 by Frank Sinatra set to the music of the French song "Comme d'habitude" composed by Jacques Revaux with lyrics by Gilles Thibaut and Claude François and first performed in 1967 by Claude François. The English lyrics of the song were written by Paul Anka and are unrelated to the original French song.

I grew up listening to Frank Sinatra. He was one of my mom's favorite singers. He has a huge catalog of songs. Some of my favorites are "That's Life", "Strangers in the Night", "It Was a Very Good Year", "Summer Wind", "New York, New York", and "My Kind of Town (Chicago Is). You should also check out two more members of the Rat Pack - Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. Songs for Dean Martin are "That's Amore", "Volare", "Sway", "Everybody Loves Somebody", and "Baby, It's Cold Outside". Songs for Sammy Davis Jr. are "I Gotta Be Me", "What Kind of Fool Am I", "Mr Bojangles", and "The Candy Man".

And by the way, In BonJovis song, "Its My Life" he quotes Frank with the lyric " As Frankis says,I did it my way". He and Richie Sambora, Johns partner guitarist, fought him over quoting it, saying, " No one will get it" ,but John said, it stays in. So when you get to covering my favorite Bonjovi song, you will be in " the know".

I like this recording, it ends softly instead of the big noisy finish, much more effective. My dad used to sing this around house, the song makes me miss him terribly. Esp on Christmas Eve. Now in my retirement from music teaching i sing in senior homes, and often sing this song in his memory. Labels are convenient for styles of music, but labels can be incorrect and misleading and prejudicial...I mean 75 weeks on the charts? that's not easy listening, that's AMAZING listening.

My Grandfather asked that this be the last song played at his funeral. My father asked the same. And almost every male in our family (Italian-American if it wasn’t already obvious) has had the same final send off. I will carry that forward one day. This song is the anthem for every man (woman too, but it is sung by Frank, so male story). Although, being the Black Sheep of the family, I always preferred Dean over Frank - Dean was a better singer and cooler guy. Plus out of the Rat Pack, Dean never bowed to Frank as the others did. And Frank being a “gentleman” … mmm 🤔 … he was definitely a “man’s man”, but from a time which anyone born after 1968 would be offended by. Oh, next step … I’ll suggest “Fly Me To The Moon” … just to begin to understand his range.

The lyrics to this song were written especially for Sinatra by former teen heartthrob Paul Anka. And although it became Frank's "signature song," his daughter says he came to hate the song, feeling it was "self-serving and self-indulgent." But apparently he never gave back the millions it made for him.

If you really want to hear a song where Frank uses a particular voice ... try "That's Life!" ... he GROWLS through the entire song ... he never uses this type of voice ever again ... basically, when he was recording it, he finished a take, was about to move on to the next song, and someone in the booth challenged him to do it one more time. Now, Frank was the one in charge of the recording sessions, so it was rare that anyone told him to do it again. So, he was pissed off ... and that's the voice he used to record this song. Check it out.

Besides he was also a hardcore bigband swinger. For decades......... Named the artist of the century ........ before Elvis. Hard to believed now but he was a youth icon in his day. The first popular mass radio star. He still is the standard for inventive frasing and delivering a song. He leaned on Belcanto singing with more emphasiz on the individual front role with personal interpretations of the song to be delivered. The first true pop-icon had emerged. Soon he will be forgotten. Even you people of around 30 hardly know his work. Fine, all things must pass. But we all stand on the shoulders of others.
