More information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Aretha, Shirley Bassey, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 10,000+ attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for 200+ songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music, and is at the source of the melodic line. • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens. A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, her father is flemish and grand mother on father side is dutch, but she also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( the father of her mother is from Detroit). She had been raised in Sicilia first for 7 years then in Belgium so she speaks both italian and french as native languages. She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today. She only moved away from opera to pop because she is first and foremost a songwriter. After her Eurovision participation in 1988 (4th), she really started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She had been living for years in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship. She moved to Sicilia end of 2022. She became very famous in Quebec in the early 90s with several double platine records and then conquered France in 1996/1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music). In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, stayed number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for 58 weeks in a row and was number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary, packed with masterpieces (covered by many great vocalists later on). But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan. She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar through her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is absolutely massive in Russia for instance. She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace", used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera, topped the charts for months and become a recurrent in the local singing contests since then. Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban (they are friends and he told she is a role model for him), Linda Eder, … With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there. Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her. She is Dimash's idol: • I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep. • He covered many of her songs, most of these were composed by Igor Krutoy and written by by Lara. Out of my mind I can list: ○ Adagio (She wrote it and is the original performer), ○ Mademoiselle Hyde (she wrote it and is the original performer), ○ Love of Tired Swans (she wrote the song in French under the title "Je t'aime encore" and was the original performer of the french then the russian versions, Dimash covered the russian version) ○ Ascolta La Voce / Vocalize (this was a pure vocalization and she was the original performer, then lyrics were added for Dimash and it was rebranded as "Know") • She also wrote the lyrics of Dimash's song "Your Love". • And she covered "Love is like a dream" before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva). • Finally, they also performed "Ti Amo Cosi" together, in trio with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed originally with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Sumi Jo then again later with Dmitri and Alina Yarovaya, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy: Igor and Dimash connected after his Adagio cover, also endorsed by Lara. Igor came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him after it. Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs, some have Lara as a role model and big inspiration (singers from every region in the world: from China and Taiwan, to Philippines, Indonesia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Netherlands, Greece, Israel, Lebanon, Italy, France, Belgium, Norway, UK, USA, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Central Africa, …) ○ Floor Jansen (Adagio), ○ Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime), ○ Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie), ○ Morissette Amon (Broken Vow), ○ Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace), ○ Cakra Khan (Broken Vow), ○ Charice Penpengco (Adagio), ○ Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow), ○ Regine Velasquez (Broken Vow), ○ Dmitri Hvorostovsky (Adagio), ○ Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade, Je t'aime), ○ Forestella (Je suis Malade), ○ Almira (from 4th Impact band) (Broken Vow), ○ Gigi de Lana (Broken Vow) ○ Julie Anne san Jose (Adagio, Broken Vow), ○ Rimar ( Adagio, Broken Vow, Know), ○ Il Divo (Adagio) ○ Daria Bentsa (I guess I loved you), ○ Sarah Geronimo (Broken Vow) ○ Laura Bretan ( Adagio, Caruso), ○ Jackie Evancho (Je t’aime, Caruso and Broken Vow, BV rewritten as « Imaginer » by Lara for Jackie), ○ Harrison Craig (Broken Vow), ○ Amir (Je t’aime), ○ Pauline Aguirre (Adagio)), ○ George Peris (Broken Vow, Humana), ○ Vitas (Adagio), ○ Wanessa Camargo (Love by Grace), ○ Anastasia Luna (Adagio), ○ Jeck (Je T’Aime), ○ Evgenia Fanfara (Adagio), ○ Anne Sila (pas sans toi, Tu es mon autre), ○ The Canadian Tenors (Adagio), ○ Anna Eriksson (Je suis malade), ○ Choi Sung Hoon (Je suis malade), ○ Soprano Turetsky band (Adagio), ○ Sarah Naura Irbah (Mademoiselle Hyde), ○ Elisabetta Rinaldi (Adagio), ○ Alyona Yarushina (Adagio), ○ Marie Payet (Pas sans toi), ○ Laurh (Immortelle), ○ Inger Lise Hope (Adagio), ○ Håkon Sønsterud Tollefsrød (Broken Vow), ○ Flora Tandi (Bambina), ○ Cindy Chao (Yeliel My Angel), ○ Majda Roumi (Adagio), ○ Abraham Mateo (Adagio), ○ Petra Berger (Adagio, Broken Vow), ○ Russel Watson (Adagio), ○ Katerina Maslova (Je t’aime, I guess I loved you) ○ Annointed (Love by Grace), ○ Sevara Nazarkhan (Je t’aime) ○ .... NB: Lara did cover Caruso , Je suis malade, and Love by grace, these are not her originals, but I mention these here as the related artists were attracted to cover it again after listening to Lara’s version. Today, Lara still has an amazing voice and tone and can still reach the 5th octave with resonance ; she still offers these emotive renditions that are her unique signature. In June 2022, she kicked off a WW tour and stunned her fans once again with 5 magical concerts in Canada. She completed the europe part in September/October 2022 and I attended a concert from this tour. It was packed and she was again spectacular. On April, May, June 2023 she had again some wonderful concerts in Tbilissi, Georgia, then in Ouzbekhistan, Kazakhstan, Romania. She is about to release a new album and just completed another popular tour in eastern europe (Czech Republic, Moldavia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkiye, Hungary) and in Canada in april-june 2024. She also appeared as a guest in some big events such as Hauser’s concert in Royal Albert Hall (May 9th 2024). Then, after some rest and a few TV Shows, she will tour France in 2025. The first song of her new album (titled "Ta Peine" - Your Sorrow) was released late January 2024 and is a success in France. Her album is expected to be released in fall 2024. Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.

Lara wrote the lyrics of this song when she fell in love with Walter Afanassiev, they both co-composed the music. Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer (he co-composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You or Hero and was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that hugely increased Celine Dion’s WW fame). He is also was the producer of one song for Dimash. Funny as Lara is the absolute idol of Dimash who made several covers. Later he apparently cheated, Lara broke and wrote the lyrics of another masterpiece they had co-composed: Broken Vow. Broken Vow has been covered by al the greatests: from Barbra Streisand, Josh Groban (again Lara is a role model for him) to Cakra Khan, Morissette Amon, Gigi de Lana, Katrina Velarde, Almira from 4th impact, … Lara is an international legend who has been prevented to succeed in the US but has been very successful in europe, Russia, central Asia and Brazil. Many consider her on the same tier vocally as the vocal trinity but even better in terms of performing and emotions conveying. This is my case. And she adds on this package songwriting and languages mastery …

xxx-FYI: She’s absolutely beautiful at 54 - LARA (not Laura) Fabian (Fah-bey-ahn) with links: Lara Fabian is a Canadian (Québécoise) of Belgian birth and Italian/Franco/Flemish cultural heritage. Lara studied piano, composition, and voice at a Brussels Conservatory for a decade. Lara is a full lyric soprano with a vocal range that spans four octaves (A5, B4, BB4, C3, C5, C#5, D5, E5, EB5, F5, F#5, G5) in live performances. She is multilingual; she speaks Italian, French, Spanish, and English and has sung in 12. Lara, who describes herself as a songwriter/singer, creates a high emotional connection with the listener. She has a discography of over 400 songs, has sold over 25 million records, and plays at sold-out venues worldwide. She lives with her husband and daughter in Montreal, Brussels and Sicily. I’m a ‘fan’ because of her high level ‘EQ’ (emotional intelligence) expressed in the text of her songs. La raison pour laquelle je suis un « fan » de Lara Fabian est son « QE » élevé, qu’elle exprime dans le texte de ses chansons. Celine Dion’s husband blocked her progress in the US. She is massive in many countries or regions: Quebec, France, Russia and the whole eastern europe, Central Asia, Brazil, … For instance, tomorrow I will see her on french TV as a coach of The Voice Kids. And next week she has a concert in Bucharest, Romania, where she has a huge fan base. I will post another comment with more details on her career and the huge influence she has on the young vocalist generation all around the globe (Dimash being her number one fan).
@EmanuelRecemConvertido2 ай бұрын
THIS!!!!! Only her old fan base knows about that. I keep telling people how BAD Celine and her husband done to Lara's career since 1988 to 2010. They kept trying block her in Europe, but mostly in Canada and in the USA. They tried so bad to block her to perform on tv shows all in Canada. But thank God they didn't succeed.
@reddragonready2 ай бұрын
@@EmanuelRecemConvertido LOL Celine's all powerful..or..could it be that Lara's songs ..much like Dimash..another great singer are not "hit"type of song whereas several songs of Celine where. Besides that..great as Lara is..her timbre is pretty but not particularly distinct. The most distinct about her that she is very good but there are loads of very good singers who never make it "Big" and no, not because Celine and her husband "blocked"them
@LouismarieBelanger2 ай бұрын
@@reddragonready Celine's husband did it anyway. Her timbre is pretty but not as nasal as Celine's. How about that? I'M from Québec city and I've been following both careers. And we knew her husband in his career with the group "Les Jérolas". Here I'm talking about the mid-fifties a Subject I know. My conclusion is that Lara should be as nasal as Céline and I Shall never accept that. Finally Dimash is a fan of Lara since he was ten years old. She wrote a song for him and they sang together.
@reddragonready2 ай бұрын
@@LouismarieBelanger No, Lara shouldn't "go nasal"..I am just saying Celine's voice is more unique which means it will jump out more and remembered more easily by people who happen to hear her sing which makes it more likely a person looks for more. I notice this in myself..I am very impressed by Lara but my attention keeps being drawn away by other singers and I end up forgetting all about Lara until I accidentally run into a video of her and am impressed again. Whereas with more dinstinctly unique voices I tend to actively go look for more of their music myself. Dimash is a great singer but other than that I am not sure what his opinion has to do with the subject. Unlike some folks, just because I like a singer, I am not going to elevate them to my personal guru on what else I should like or not. But re that interestkeeping. I saw Lara first time singing with Dimash and Aiida Garifullina and after that...It was Aiida I went in search of more videos..not Lara. And as for Celine's husband..I am sure that he did his best to make her a big star but so does every manager. I am sure Lara's manager did his/her/their best aswell. None of them have some kind of ultimate power over others or the musicbizz or what audiences want to hear. BUT..it is always easier to look for a "bad guy" who did your fave wrong than to admit possibly your fave is not as perfect as you would like to think.

Lara has always been one of the greatest, if not THE greatest performers of the past century. Her American exposure was derailed by a bunch of selfish producers who already had their "cash cows" in Celine and Mariah, and they felt threatened by Lara's superior talents. All the other famous ladies could do was sing. Lara writes great songs, sings in multiple languages, acts, and has a sweet and humble demeanor. Her From Lara With Love concert was going to introduce her to us all, but those greedy little toads knew Lara would upset their little kingdoms. They pressured Sony to keep her from the exposure by trying to tell her she should do hip hop and dance music. She responded with the huge hit I Will Love Again, which stayed at the Billboard #1 spot for eighteen weeks. She showed them what she could produce but had the fortitude to not compromise her talent for money and fame. She did her own thing and became world famous without them. Sadly, the US market was owned by the big company and we were robbed for decades, but thanks to YT reactions, we are now exposed to the magic of Lara Fabian. As a professional musician for most of my life, I was so angry that I had not heard of her until just three years ago. But fortunately I have now and I have so much love and respect for this beautiful lady with the perfect voice and flawless talents. I don't pull any punches when I talk about how she was treated. We all know what the business has done to great music and great artists. Thank God Lara is still performing and at 54 she still brings the magic to everything she does. Some of her big fans will tune in to all of your reactions of her performances, and comment with a lot of information. Especially read comments from the wonderful Eric Sicard. He has a wealth of details. (Thanks again Eric!).

Why call Celine and Mariah that?? Do you have a problem? They are also extremely talented, they have nothing to do whit that, It's Very funny How people love rivalry women, insulting each other to praise others, disgusting.

🇨🇦 It is only my take, but it seems like a young girl, still learning about love, still waiting for that one love to come and then when he does appear, and is not from around here, she realizes that this is what she has been waiting for (without knowing it) and she falls for the first time ! But it is a brief, passionate affair that ends when he moves on ! 🇨🇦

You're asking why she's not popular in the USA? Ask that question to the musical industry in US who's had decided that she sound to much as Celine Dion.... She is the most talented singer of her generation and certainly one of the best performer on this planet. But the US decided to ignore her, even though she sold more than 30 million albums in the world. Bravo

Every person in Québec knows her, a little tiny bit in Ottawa, thats it, in the USA, she goes to New York, Carnegie Hall, sold out the same day. I will let #ericsicard tell you the story about the criminal Sony Music and Céline Dion husband banning Lara for Radio play in early 2000s, but she was still #1 on the US Dance Billboard Chart for 58 weeks in a row, she got in a dispute with Sony Music who did not wanted her to do Ballads, only pop/dance, she told them to ....F.......F , she went back to Europe and became #1 in France, Russia, Ukraine and many other countries including Brazil and Asia...In Canada she won Juno award in 2002 or 03

Only her old fan base know how Celine and her team made the worst things against Lara's career. I keep telling people how BAD Celine and her husband done to Lara's career since 1988 to 2010. They kept trying block her in Europe, but mostly in Canada and in the USA. They tried so bad to block her to perform on tv shows all in Canada. But thank God they didn't succeed.

It was particularly Céline's husband René Angélil. He effectively told Sony that if it broadcast Lara's "From Lara With Love" concert made with PBS, he would stop Céline renewing her contract with Sony. So this concert remained mostly hidden until Sony allowed parts to be published on KZbin 20 yrs later.

She was signed at the same time as Celine Dion for Sony and they sabotaged her US career to favour Celine on her husband's strict instructions. Lara Fabian is big in Canada, Europe, Russia, Middle East etc. In my opinion she is a far better singer than Celine and emotes emotions when she sings.
