When I went away for college, especially my girlfriend's family, they initially took it as being rude, which I get, but that's certainly not the intent. We like to joke around and we call it like we see it. We trim the fat and get right to the meat. Those same people are family now, and if they ever want an honest opinion or advice, I'm the guy they turn to. Definitely a little rough around the edges, not for everyone, but I'd give you the shirt off my back. I'd take the coke outta the front pocket first though!
