I grew up with this stuff. While I love this pizza, I don’t even put it in the same category as pizza. It’s very very sweet and unlike any other “normal” pizza. When I think about going out for pizza this isn’t in the list of places to go. It’s something entirely different that you need to be in the mood for.

His major mistake was not getting the extra cheese. That’s a well known fact at Tripolis. It take it from a 6.1 to an 8.1. They put a piece of provolone on top of each slice and put it back in the big oven.

Dave, you call em' like you taste em! Unfortunately Tripoli's Pizza, Lawrence Ma. was my all time favorite pizza as a kid. My wife had it from Salisbury beach and Lawrence just last summer. She gave it a score like yours and I was crushed. It hasn't changed much in taste and texture. I still Love it, Sorry you were disappointed but I still love your shows; since covid days. Two old Italian women worked their tales off for years and you usually had to wait. It is one style only and if i may say Sir; please try it again from Salisbury and buy a whole tray! Chow

This location is in the old historic italian section.When the immigrants came over at the turn of the century. It Is the last of all the bakeries in a once italian neighborhood. The pizza is not beach pizza. It was Originally called bakery pizza from naples.Ithaway it would make this for the workers. And when they came to this country, this is how they made it in the bakery. They opened a location at the beach that became wildly popular. And for those of you who are questioning this, I heard this firsthand from the old generation that came over my grandparents.They lived two blocks away when they came over from italy. The pizza is sweet light and crisp. I would give it an 8.8

They call it beach pizza because at Hampton Beach, NH & Salisbury Beach, MA which are very close to each other, there is Tripoli's and there is Cristy's which is the same kind of giant sheet pan square pizza. And they've both been there since forever. The difference though is all in the sauce. It literally depends who you ask around here (I live in NH) which is "better". You will get a HARD answer going either way. The "beach pizza" challenge is literally getting pizza from both and picking which you like better lol. Me personally, I love Cristy's so much more it has that normal Italian new york style pizza kind of sauce. Tripoli's is way too sweet for me!

Grew up on this back in the 60's. It used to be a treat at grammar school - Fridays I think, they would bring it in as a treat (no meat on Fridays in Lent). Others have said, you get it with a slice of provolone - perfect. Don't care about scores. Back in the day at the beach, after a long night of drinking, a couple of slices with cheese went down goooooood.

It's Beach Pizza if you weren't raised on it you probably won't like it unless you actually like sweet sauce... The key is to get an extra slice of provolone on top I like to take it back home and put a couple slices in the toaster oven to get it even more crispy put a little Italian seasoning on it salt pepper crushed peppers and it's bomb so good. But I respect the 6.2 for an outsider. Now I want to know what he thinks of Christy's Pizza in Hampton New Hampshire and Salisbury Mass. It's very similar literally looks the same just the sauce is a bit spicier. I actually like Christy's more. Then you have NH Beach Pizza in Salem, NH and Haverhill, MA I would compare it to Christy's. But in my opinion that's shared with many of my friends and family the undisputed champion of New England beach pizza is Cristaldi's pizza in Seabrook, New Hampshire!!! It's a little mom and pop pizza place. I think they make the best pizza as far as square tray New England Beach Pizza goes. The sauce is the perfect balance of a little bit of sweet with spice like a regular pizza sauce. The cheese, crust & the extra slice of provolone on top everything is always perfect. Highly recommend If you've never tried it and you like the style of pizza!!!

It’s true it’s called beach pizza haha. I don’t know if it’s originally because of Tripoli though especially since the Lawrence location isn’t at the beach like you said. But it’s the style that makes it beach pizza which you can find this style in a few places on the mass/nh shoreline. Thick bakery square crust, sweet sauce, and just a little mozzarella. It’s definitely an acquired taste. It’s not my favorite type of pizza but at the same time I like having it when I’m in the area for nostalgia and scarcity elsewhere

You're 100% wrong. While it might not be everyone's thing, it's not even reminiscent of bread from your toaster... That's for sure. 80+ year old recipe, family straight from Italy... It's unique but nothing to scoff at. You just have to order it extra cheese.
