Welcome to Berryessa/North San Jose! BART's latest extension takes it further south to the South Bay, and within the city limits of San Jose for the first time.
Of course, we went down and filmed several Fleet of the Future and Legacy trains at BART's new southernmost station on opening day (June 13, 2020). The station serves the Green and Orange lines, with trains running to Daly City and Richmond, respectively. (And of course, now every station announcement you hear will be "8-car, 3-door train for Berryessa in five minutes," instead of "Warm Springs/South Fremont.")
Berryessa Station has been under construction since 2012, and was originally never meant to be a terminus station; due to the Great Recession, the Silicon Valley Extension had to be split into two parts to make up for budget shortfalls, which meant that trains would terminate at Berryessa before eventually being extended all the way to Downtown San Jose and Santa Clara.

Ever since BART’s inception, plans included service within San Jose’s city limits. This was indefinitely put on hold, however, when Santa Clara County pulled out of negotiations in 1957 in favor of building abominable expressways.
In the late 90s, San Jose Mayor Ron Gonzales and East Bay officials met for preliminary discussions about the prospect of extending BART to San Jose. In 2000, VTA’s proposed sales tax for funding construction costs passed with 71 percent support. The line was to be built to Santa Clara, with stops at Diridon, Downtown San Jose, 28th St/Little Portugal, Berryessa, Milpitas, and Warm Springs/South Fremont.
Construction didn’t begin for another 12 years, at which point the extension had to be split into two phases due to the 2009 recession and subsequent budgetary shortfalls. The first phase was to be built to Berryessa, with one intermediate stop at Milpitas.
Originally slated to open in 2016, the extension experienced a series of setbacks that pushed the opening date back by four years. A likely partial culprit was the fact that the extension was built by one agency (VTA) and operates under another (BART), which caused no small amount of headaches during the construction period.
Nevertheless, construction and testing have been completed, and after decades of ambivalence and uncertainty, residents of Santa Clara County are able to board BART trains in their county for the first time.
The journey from Berryessa to Milpitas takes about four minutes, and an additional nine minutes to Warm Springs. The extension brings BART’s total station count to 50, and its total track mileage to 131.
In the year 2030, we may see the Orange and Green lines extended once again, this time further south as part of Phase 2 of the Silicon Valley extension to Downtown San Jose and Santa Clara. The opening of Milpitas and Berryessa will likely remain the most recent expansion of the system for at least another decade.

Also I've always wondered what the BART train does at the end of the line so it's cool to see it reverses whilst the other train waits on the siding

At 1:12 I saw that the overhead sign (the one that’s says all the destinations not the eta) says Richmond/millbrae sfo. I’m pretty sure there is not a non transfer line that goes from north San Jose to millbrae. Does anyone know why it says that?

Why are Barr trains so loud and noisy? Been to Paris ,Munich , Japan, Taiwan, Beijing and none of the trains are this noisy. I mean not the high pitch scream. There's wheel noise and brake noise but not the constant high pitch scream even when it's just taking off

The Old Bart Trains are reaching upwards of 50 years old now, there naturally gonna start making more noise as parts wear down

Well, the first A Car was manufactured in 1965, and they travel at high speeds with flat wheel flanges for stability, increasing noise

I wouldn’t say that BART is that much louder than other fast systems. Some of the Paris metro is on rubber tires. That _is_quieter but is also worse than BART in pretty much every other way. Just a ridiculous French idea from the 60s that turned out predictably crappy. BART is a very fast system pretty much throughout. Other systems are loud too when they get up to BART speeds, but they mostly run at slow speeds. BART is more similar to the RER, and that certainly isn’t any quieter.
