You've achieved a remarkably fine transfer of an old Angel LP. I wonder what the British EMI pressing would sound like. What noise reduction software do you use?

I use Audacity on a Macbook for the original recording. I take the raw file and transfer it to an old PC that has Magix Sound cleaner (now in Sound Forge I think.) I use it mainly to take out ticks and crackling- which there wasn't much of on this record. I then move it back to Audacity on the Mac. Mostly I focus on re-equalizing and volume fixes. I try to minimize using noise reduction on Audacity as it makes things tinny or flat if overdone. In the original digital transfer, Audacity compresses from the loudest bit of the record - which might be a needle drop or a pop. So those noises have to be removed. There is adjusting to do on volume and equalization afterwards to get it back to sounding more like the record. Also I routinely do a high pass at about 15khz which is for reducing rumble. When I make the video, I have to do one final check on volume. For mono records the music is almost always too quiet on Imovie, requiring about a 50% volume increase.
