With the new BART schedule going in effective Monday 9/11/23, the agency has decided to retire all of its legacy fleet trains from regularly scheduled service. The last regularly scheduled trip was yesterday night, red line Richmond train leaving Millbrae at 7:39pm.
This train is full of passionate train fans and BART passengers! With an official announcement being made from BART, there were a lot of people on the platform waiting for it, marking a significance ending for these legacy trains.

I am going to miss the 'Legacy' fleet, their sounds, and their iconic beeps!! Sooo happy I got to ride them when I was in SF back in February 2023 :)

I remember encountering this introductory fleet at the Mid-nineties when it just might've been at its stinkiest; their carpeting had rotted beyond a point where it all stank like the BARTy wagons had been gravely flooded -- godawful odour for a system to which its modernity had been foisted onto Baysiders as though it were sci-fi

Legacies over FOTF any day. Legacies provide more seating, more everything. Even though legacy trains have circled the earth 800 times in distance, these things should run!

Perhaps future technologies will rebuild these trains and correct their flaws while keeping their design. You never know.
