Fujifilm XC 15-45mm vs 16-50mm Lens Comparison

The 16-50mm focuses close at W=15cm/T=35cm and has 12 elements in 10 groups, 3 aspherical, 1 ED. The 15-45mm focuses closer at W=13cm/T=35cm; has 10 elements in 9 groups, 3 aspherical and 2 ED. Both have 7 diaphragm blades. I think the only real difference for me is the mechanical vs electronic zoom. Judging at the zooming, I like how more responsive the mechanical zooming is.

There’s a good workaround for the fidgety electronic zoom. Just turn of “AF/MF” in the menus. Then the FOCUS ring can be used to more precisely control the zoom function.

Surprised you picked the 15-45mm in the end since the vibe I got throughout the video was negative towards that lens. At any rate, the zoom mechanism alone would make me stay away from the 15-45mm lens, and the difference in center sharpness wide open is barely discernible (at least in the video; it may be more pronounced in the original files). The sharper corners of the 16-50mm are more important to me anyway since, when I use the lens at the wide end, it's usually for landscapes or street scenes where I want every part of the image to be reasonably sharp. Seems Fuji fixed the flicker problem in video in recent firmwares so the power zoom does seem like quite a compelling wide angle option even in 2022.

Guess sweet spots around f8 for 16'50.. Both lens Will provide better pics thn any smartphone... Specially for one who wants to edit before posting it online.. great comparison 🙂🙂🙂

Plan to buy 16-50 because it's cheap and I already have 15-45 lens which is for me is not good because of electronic zoom. you have to wait like 2-3second to zoom in 45mm unlike 16-50mm that has manual. Sadly you didn't include how they look if you zoom a object but from what I hear it's more quieter to choose 16-50

So pretty much the same optical performance but 16-50 > 15-45 due to the mechanical zoom

"Heavier" for the 16-50mm made me laugh. You must have had it at f16. Try it at f4. Much lighter. Kidding aside, your chromatic aberration shots early on (3:07) showed the 15 at full tele looking sharper.
