What if the pins won't pull up? Two of the black turn dials are stuck pressed down. I'm using a hammer to try to loosen the pins, but they won't budge.

Mine is literally fused to the pre-installed thermal material on the stock cooler. No amount of heat and blade will remove it. I think I would break the CPU before I ever get it off.

I seem to have bricked my PC! On a new PC with no OS I did as instructed: Shift F10 (then full screen with mouse to get the cursor to the command prompt) then oobe/bypassnro And the computer rebooted to blackness. The screen does not show anything. If I turn the screen on and off it says that there is no signal to be displayed. If I reboot all I get is blackness. Someone else had this and solved (?) the problem by using a different display connection (not Display Port but HDMI. I am using HDMI so I will try display port). SOLVED one of the following 1) I connected my display to a port on my GPU. This display flickered briefly. It may have been irrelevant. 2) I connected a different (more simple/generic?) portable display to the HDMI output of my motherboard. This is is more likely. 3) I pressed keys on my keyboard which caused the display to wake up. I don't think it was as simple as this but it may have been.

I'm a mac newbie and have some questions. If I boot from an external drive is swap memory used from that drive or the built in drive? Because from my understanding thunderbolt enclosers with fast SSDs match apple's internal SSD speeds. So why shouldn't I just buy the base level macbook pro and use a cheap(er) external solution instead of Apple's ridiculous upgrade pricing?

I've been doing this for years and this is the worst laptop design I've ever seen! You shouldn't have to remove so many parts and screws to replace the fucking keyboard! Thanks for sharing, otherwise I would have to throw the computer away!
