Shake all the ingredients with ice. Then strain the drink, and shake it all again without ice so that the egg white emulsifies. Pour it over ice, throw a cherry on top if you'd like it. If you want to get crazy with it, pour an ounce of a big, bold red wine over the top of the egg white foam, make it a New York Sour. You won't be disappointed.

If you work in a busy bar, wasting time on things such as “freshly squeezed lime” is not the same as providing good service. At the bar I work at we use bottled lime and lemon juice, and it tastes great, very little difference from fresh limes. Especially in cocktails.
@jerseymikes34032 жыл бұрын
No, using good ingredients IS good service. Being lazy and pushing out the cheapest shit possible is not. And there is a difference between fresh and bottled lime juice. The bottled garbage is pasteurized, which destroys the flavor, so they perfume it with artificial flavors. Even if it wasn't pasteurized, lime juice degrades quickly after being exposed to air. I'm guessing your bar makes what is essentially Kool-aid for adults, like every other shitty bar, which is why you can't tell the difference. It's not hard to juice a lime. And it goes even deeper when you go into dive vs cocktail bars. Or gimmick bars.

Bar tried doing this to me when o had just turned 21, little did they I came up working at restaurants and bars so I knew the difference between Blanton’s and the crap they poured me

Alcoholics in the comments mad not realizing that every bartender has some shortcut they take when they know you don’t actually want what you ordered to the tee. I’m an alcoholic too but I accept that the bartender is gonna give me something that I want. Never been let down when you have that mindset

Even if denim jacket girl only just turned legal, she probably knows the difference. Nobody waits till they hit 21 to try a vodka cran.

And this is why I want to hug the bartenders when my cosmopolitan (favorite cocktail) has triple sec in it. So many times that I had asked for cosmos only to get cranberry and vodka paying full price... I started to make my own at home and not get scammed by lazy bartenders

This a pretentious af. Just make what the guest orders. Or make a recommendation to their face.

You know the difference between bars with experience. There are places I’ll order beer or simple mixers from, and there are others I’ll order a proper cocktail from. This is the reason.

I was basically forced to attend a company event in Nashville at this place with strands of crystal BS hanging from the ceiling. This kid with the typical beard and fake glasses asked what I would like, I answered "Miller High Life and a double shot of Jack", he said "sir I think you're missing the point of my skill set", so I told him "kid you're missing the point that I'm a man, not a 23 year old jackass".

As a bartender, I may silently judge when a table of freshly legal kids all order adios mofos or trash cans, or when the customer who ordered and sent back a spicy peperoncini martini for being “too spicy” orders a lemon drop instead, but I’m still gonna make exactly what they ordered and keep my judgements to myself and maybe a few coworkers after shift. People pay decent money to have drinks made at a bar, and those people, even the annoying ones, are the reason I have a decent paying job.

Well said, I'm not a bartender but I am a chef. I'll do the same thing; silently Judge you for your odd choices, but in the end prepare what you wanted because you're the one paying good money for it.
