In this video, I talk about a recent bartering experience we had and why everyone should consider bartering. It made me realize how efficient and important having a barter system in your community can be.
In our most recent case, a local farmer who just loves my soap (and I rarely make it these days as I'm too busy) had some extra hay he needed to sell... And...we just happened to need the hay! So, we were able to trade some herbal tea and lots of soap for a ton of hay.
It was a GREAT deal for both sides!

I would love for us to someday resort back to the barter system. When we barter, I agree with you wholeheartedly, we are so much more closer as a community! Money gives me no emotional "connection" as would trading would because usually we would have to trade something valuable to get something valuable to you, whilst money is only paper that is being printed by the millions each year. I loved watching your video, you seem so kind and your voice is soothing. Thanks for this!

I’d rather rely on God and not money or bartering. It is the ideal solution but sadly most hate God.. so they rely on bartering and then the problems begin.

I love the idea of bartering, Heidi. 'LETS' groups were around here a long while ago when that system was buyilding momentum in its early days.. Unfortunately it didn't take off as convincingly as it might have, but bartering does happen here and it's good to see bartering and sharing working in a spontaneous way. At the moment, while I'm sowing seeds ('out of date' as well as exciting recent purchases) for our own vege garden, I'm intentionally sowing more than we can use so that I can offer some to friends who missed out accessing their own before vege seedlings sold out. (Around here, vege seedlings are a bit like toilet paper, in terms of what people seem to have panic purchased.) I like a particular online seller due to his variety of interesting seeds, as well as our favourite local garden centre and a couple of seedling vendors at farmer's market, so I already had seeds ready to sow anyway, and should be able to find something I can share. I'm concentrating on edible perennials that are easily propagated by cuttings so that when I gift a single plant it may become several plants and be gifted further. (I live in a permaculture neighbourhood, so many friends and neighbours are reasonably capable in terms of gardening :)). Although it's not a formal barter system, it works well around here. One friend will gift a few of us a Moon planting calendar, as her friend creates them and she is supporting his work as well as gifting useful things to friends. My daughter is giving away seeds of very useful and fast-growing edibles to her neighbourhood through a group that she and a couple of others administrate. Others will offer old garden gates or bird netting or etc, as 'come and collect' swap, share or freebie items. She saw a message near a bucket during her dog's morning walk that asked for vege scraps for chooks.. so she posted it on their group page. A friend helps me weed my labyrinth while she walks in it.. A win win.. :) I think that, especially now, and even with social distancing, this will become more of 'a thing' :)

@@HeidiVillegas I do have lots of experience in living in a wonderful community, to be sure, for which I feel very blessed, but I am heavily reliant on all you knowledgeable 'herbal' folks. Still, I'm learning, and that is a resource that I will also share, in turn. The current situation does offer challenges in terms of how to get things to people, though. We are cut off from our daughters and their families, so the fire cider won't reach them if they happen to need it, and other herbs, tinctures, cuttings etc really can only be shared very locally now, or else via the postal system as that, thank goodness, as still active. Our state has just (midnight tonight) further tightened the reins on outings etc. But people will still drive to get essentials, so if we all start posting on FB, for example, that we will have such and such oversupply of something waiting by our gate, in our letterbox, on our verandah, etc then people can do swaps that way, no personal contact involved, just friendship offered. :) Thank you for your very generous sharing of knowledge, Heidi. Especially now it is invaluable!! 🌹🌹🌻❤️🌻🌹🌹

As Sir Gerald is and so as the gerunds of English, the Garudas of Japan, there is still Art, by the name and the businesses, Grandpa and Grandma won't be Grand without Heirlooms that looms the palaces of eacb residences. Heirloom for you and heirlooms for another. It cannot be a fan making art/business with a painting as Gerald's of heralds :) Heraldic.

So hard to churn up interest around our area. I have been giving away eggs a while at work. Then a few people started bringing fish and some had shrimp. These are the people I give eggs first. I sure wish I could find honey for barter. Paid $26 a qt this morning. Ouch.

Oh, wow!!! $26 a quart? That's CRAZY---that's double what it costs here, but honestly, I may be completely wrong about that. I buy about a gallon and a half each summer from local bee keepers and it lasts til the next year.

Survival kits and many storages at these times are in demand as well, it creates the accuracy, as well as the finesse in any business. Materials for another material to make businesses continuous,it is the kinds of preservation of businesses wherein GDP as a whole are also preserved, such as made in, U.K is UK, made in U.S is U.S, the states in participation, made in EU is EU with the ingredients carefully selected and refined, such as those with the member EU countries and counties as well. Same with Asia, with the zazz, sias such as tai chi of Taiwan, Chi's of China, Singers of Singapore, Siam's of Thais of Thailand, and Bahasas of the Melayu Malaysia, don't forget the Indus of the Indonesians Polynesia's. Those are businesses of a ljfetime, where culture is time preserved and the inhabitants, citizens continuous GDP.
