Sixty years ago I listened obsessively to Leon Fleisher's. I learned to play it myself; it's not too hard if you're willing to cut corners.......Katin's performance here is Great!

May not be too hard for you. For me I am stuck with humming a long with certain parts and butchering those. LOL!

Wunderschöne Interpretation dieses romantischen und perfekt komponierten Konzerts mit klarem doch anmutigem Klang des technisch fehlerlosen Soloklaviers sowie gut harmonisierten und perfekt entsprechenden Tönen der anderen Instrumente. Der zweite Satz klingt echt schön und auch beruhigend. Im Kontrast klingt der dritte Satz echt lebhaft und auch überzeugend. Der intelligente und erfahrene Dirigent leitet das ausgezeichnete Orchester im gut analysierten Tempo und mit möglichst effektiver Dynamik. Alles ist wunderbar!

Thanks Bartje, didn't know this one. Take any of those a-minor piano concertos, Schumann's, Grieg's, Hummel's, there's smthg particularly haunting and mesmerising about them. The 50-60s' have given birth to the most beautiful recordings which make nowadays' pianists pale in comparison. My fave = Dinu Lipatti.
