See this is where Modern whatever you want to call in the tree industry has made it more dangerous I've been doing trees for over 30 years and if you were tied in with any kind of tensioning knot you could have reached up from the ground made a cut in the rope and lowered that guy from the ground within a matter of seconds instead you're taking minutes to climb up go above him come back around and back down the tree industry has to revert back to old ways it has become so dangerous for the new people that it is ridiculous this used to be a very safe industry now with all these modern players and offenders and all these Mechanical Devices it is become exponentially more dangerous

What a load of rubbish! People haven't forgotten how to set up a belay-able working line - but that won't save you in every instance - plus whoever's on the ground needs to know how to use the system. The industry has moved on; commercial pressure, HSE legislation, proper training instead of some muppet in shorts and a cap throwing you a 170... There's a reason British climbers are always in demand around the world - we're not higher beings, just better trained. Everyone knows if you really mess up with a saw no ones gonna save you in time, but there are plenty of other scenarios where lives can be saved if you're open to developing a wider repertoire of working methods. Knowledge isn't dangerous - but a lack of correct implementation of said knowledge, or incorrect 'knowledge', especially combined with a gung-ho attitude, is very dangerous...

Assuming your climber is base anchored sure, but otherwise yeah you're going up the tree to save him. Shouldn't have taken 30 years to realize that.
